The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About Enhanced History Viewer
To activate the extension after installing, please close any existing History tabs or restart Chrome. Then, simply press Ctrl+H (or Cmd+Y on Mac) to use the new viewer.
Enhanced History Viewer is a feature-rich, privacy-respecting extension that replaces Chrome's default history page (chrome://history/) with an intuitive and modern interface. It is fully open-source and local-first.
Nothing changes about how you access your history — press Ctrl+H (Cmd+Y on Mac) or type chrome://history/ like you normally would. The extension loads automatically and displays the improved interface.
Core Features:
Full URL Display: See complete URL addresses instead of truncated domain names.
Multi-Selection & Bulk Actions: Select multiple history items at once and delete them in parallel with a single click — failures are reported honestly and kept selected for retry.
Tabs from Other Devices: Browse and open tabs currently active on your synced phones, tablets, and computers, organized into collapsible device groups with last-active times, an "Open all" menu, and live search.
This Device Only: A single toggle filters your history down to just what was visited on this machine.
Smart Device Indicators: Synced history items display a subtle device icon so you can see where they came from.
Live Updates: The list stays current as you browse — new visits appear and deletions from anywhere are reflected immediately.
Fast, Filtered Search: As-you-type search across your full history, with results grouped by day and repeat searches served instantly from cache.
Aesthetic UI: Responsive layout that matches native Chrome styling, with full support for Light and Dark modes.
Quick Item Actions: Use any item's menu to quickly copy the link, search for more pages from that site, or remove it.
Performance:
Rebuilt renderer: opening and scrolling even very long histories matches or beats the previous version.
Parallel device-status lookups make filtered views render several times faster, and repeat searches are served from cache.
Lazy-loaded favicons and batched rendering keep scrolling smooth on long histories.
Privacy-First:
Zero external requests — nothing leaves your browser, ever. Favicons resolve locally through Chrome's own API.
No data collection, no trackers, no analytics.
The code is fully open-source and available on GitHub.
