The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About DualCore — YouTube Caption PiP
Keep YouTube captions nearby while you work, study, or play. DualCore opens a small caption-only picture-in-picture window so you can follow podcasts and lectures without keeping the full video in front of you.
• Floating caption window for YouTube
• Original captions, translation, or both
• Upcoming caption preview when timing information is available
• Adjustable text size, alignment, themes, colors, and saved presets
• Current-word highlighting using text color and subtle enlargement
• Optional AI caption generation and translation
• Korean, English, and Japanese settings, account menus, and setup guide
• Optional transparent caption window with the separate Mac app
GET STARTED
Play a YouTube video with captions, turn on CC, and click the DualCore caption button next to the YouTube logo. Open the extension's settings to choose your style. The menu follows your browser language, or you can select a language yourself. Menu language and caption translation language are independent.
ACCOUNTS AND AI
Basic YouTube captions require no account, API key, or payment. AI features require the applicable account, beta access, or personal OpenAI API setup. Personal API usage is billed separately by the provider and is not included in a ChatGPT subscription. Beta access is subject to approval, availability, and usage limits.
COMPATIBILITY
Basic PiP requires desktop Chrome 116 or later. Transparent Mac captions require macOS 13.5 or later and the separately installed, paired DualCore Overlay app. Some full-screen applications may prevent overlays from appearing. Caption availability and timing vary by video. Word timing is estimated when individual word timestamps are unavailable. AI extraction may fail because of YouTube access restrictions or network conditions.
DATA USE
AI captions send the video ID and time range to a helper on your PC for yt-dlp/FFmpeg extraction. On Mac, DualCore Overlay includes all required tools and starts/stops the helper automatically. Windows uses a separate helper launcher. No tab or microphone capture or cloud extraction fallback is used. Approved beta access sends extracted audio through our transcription server to OpenAI and text through our account server for translation. Personal-key mode sends audio/text directly to the AI provider. Translation may also include your glossary. Keys saved while signed in are encrypted on your DualCore account server and restored when you sign in again. The Mac app receives captions through a connection on your device and does not receive API keys. See our privacy policy for details.
The optional Mac app is currently a test distribution without Apple notarization. macOS may require explicit approval on first launch.

The current public beta requires sign-in, email verification and approved beta access for AI features. A personal API key does not bypass this beta requirement. Personal-key mode is available only when enabled by service policy.
