About Drift
Drift is a Chrome extension for web app testing and QA. Record your screen while you narrate bugs out loud, and get back a structured, developer-ready bug report for every issue you described.
Built for testers, QA engineers, product managers, designers and developers who test web apps in the browser and are tired of writing up bugs by hand.
HOW IT WORKS
1. Click Start and test your web app as you normally would.
2. Talk through what you see: "this button does nothing", "the list loads empty", "this page throws an error".
3. Click Stop. Drift turns your narration into a separate report for each issue.
WHAT YOU GET FOR EACH ISSUE
• A clear title, summary and category
• Inferred steps to reproduce
• The most relevant screenshots, picked from your recording
• The clicks and sustained hovers made during that moment, with CSS selectors and visible text
• Console warnings and errors
• Network requests, including failed calls and optionally the response body
• Page URLs, viewport and browser details
Reports are saved as organized folders you can attach to a ticket, hand to a developer, or paste into an LLM (Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and others) with the "Copy prompt" button. Every report is built from evidence captured in the browser, so you get the real console errors, failing requests and selectors rather than guesses.
WHY DRIFT
• Faster than writing bug reports. Narrate once and skip the screenshots, console copy-pasting and repro steps.
• Developer-grade context. The logs and network data a dev would otherwise ask you for are already attached.
• Your data stays with you. Recordings, transcripts and settings are stored on your device. There is no Drift server and no account.
• Bring your own API key. Add an OpenAI or Anthropic key in Settings. Your audio and selected screenshots go straight from your browser to the provider you chose and never through us.
PRIVACY
Drift captures data only while you are recording. It has no analytics, ads or tracking. The privacy policy is at driftextension.com/privacy
Network response bodies are off by default. If you turn them on, Chrome shows its standard "debugging this tab" banner.
An OpenAI or Anthropic API key is required for AI processing. Charges from those providers apply to your own account.
