About Dr.Browser

🔒 PRIVACY FIRST: Dr.Browser reads tab information ONLY to detect duplicates and manage tabs. We DO NOT track, store, or transmit your browsing history. All data stays on your device. Your browser's health expert — now smarter, faster, and more in control. 🔒 PRIVACY FIRST: Dr.Browser reads tab information ONLY to detect duplicates and manage tabs. We do not track, store, or transmit your browsing history. All data stays on your device. ⚡ Chrome shows a "Read browsing history" warning for ALL tab management extensions. This is normal and required for our core features to work. 🩺 WHAT DR.BROWSER DOES Dr.Browser keeps Chrome fast and efficient by detecting duplicate tabs, monitoring memory usage, and suspending tabs you haven't used — all without sending a single byte of your data anywhere. ⚡ KEY FEATURES ✓ Smart Duplicate Detection — Now with URL Normalization Detects duplicate tabs even when URLs differ by tracking parameters (utm_source, fbclid, gclid, and more), fragments, http/https, or www prefix Choose exactly which tab to keep — the most recently active tab is pre-selected Pinned and active tabs are always protected ✓ Memory Usage Monitoring Real-time system memory display Identifies top memory-consuming tabs with color-coded indicators (High / Medium / Low) ✓ Intelligent Inactive Tab Management Auto-detects tabs idle for 10+ minutes (configurable) Auto-suspend frees RAM without closing tabs — restore them instantly by clicking ✓ Advanced Whitelist Protect any site from auto-suspension Supports plain domains (gmail.com), port-based dev servers (localhost:3000), subpaths (staging.myapp.com/admin), and regular expression patterns (/localhost:\d+/) ✓ One-Click Optimization Close duplicates and suspend inactive tabs in a single action ✓ Privacy-First Design All processing happens locally on your device No servers, no tracking, no data collection 🎯 PERFECT FOR Developers juggling multiple environments and localhost ports Heavy tab users (50+ tabs open at once) Anyone who wants a faster, leaner browser without micromanaging tabs 🚀 HOW IT WORKS Install from the Chrome Web Store Click the Dr.Browser icon in your toolbar Review duplicate groups and memory usage Pick which tabs to keep, or hit Optimize Now for instant cleanup 🔒 PERMISSIONS EXPLAINED Tabs — Required to read open tab URLs for duplicate detection and inactivity tracking Storage — Saves your settings (whitelist, suspend timer, preferences) locally on your device System Memory — Displays total and available RAM in the popup Alarms — Runs a background check every 5 minutes to detect and suspend inactive tabs Notifications — Alerts you when a tab has been auto-suspended so you're always aware of what Dr.Browser is doing in the background Your data never leaves your device. We don't have servers to send it to. ❓ FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Q: Why does Chrome show "Read your browsing history"? A: Chrome displays this warning for any extension using the "tabs" permission. It is required to see which tabs are open so we can find duplicates. We do not track or store your browsing history. Q: What data do you collect? A: None. Dr.Browser does not collect, transmit, or log any data. Everything stays on your device. Q: Can you see what websites I visit? A: Dr.Browser reads tab URLs only at the moment you open the popup or when the background alarm runs. We never log or store this information. Q: Will auto-suspend lose my work? A: No. Chrome's native tab discard preserves the tab in your browser — clicking it reloads the page. It is equivalent to the browser's built-in memory saving feature. Q: What is the default suspend time? A: 10 minutes of inactivity. You can change this to any value between 1 and 480 minutes in Settings.
