About DomPrompt — In-DOM Change Requests for AI Agents
DomPrompt turns your browser into a visual specification tool for AI coding agents. Edit any webpage in-place, capture before/after visual proof, and generate prompt bundles ready for Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, Copilot, or GitHub PRs.
FEATURES
• Visual In-DOM Editing — Click to modify text, headers, badges, button copy, styles, and image URLs on any website or local dev server.
• Automatic Fiber & Framework Probe — Inspects React component debug names, source files, lines, and data attributes for zero-guessing edits.
• Visual Proof Screenshots — Automatically captures clean before-and-after element snapshots with computed CSS diffs and bounding box metrics.
• API & Network Response Trace — Correlates modified copy with active XHR/Fetch payloads and JSON paths so backends and mock APIs update in sync.
• Multi-Format Export — Copy as an AI-ready Markdown prompt, clean unified Git patch snippet, or download an all-inclusive ZIP package with diffs and PNG screenshots.
• Zero Cloud Dependencies & Offline-First — Runs completely local in your browser session. No tracking, no external telemetry, and no data leaving your machine.
HOW TO USE
1. Click the DomPrompt icon in your toolbar or press Alt+Shift+E on any webpage.
2. Click any element on the page to edit text, swap image sources, or adjust styling.
3. Review recorded changes in the floating DomPrompt panel.
4. Click "Copy AI Prompt" or "Export ZIP" to deliver precise change instructions to your AI coding agent.
PRIVACY & SECURITY
DomPrompt operates entirely within your browser. It does not transmit webpage content, edited text, or screenshots to any external server or third-party service. All change logs are stored locally in Chrome storage on your device.
PERMISSIONS EXPLAINED
• "activeTab" — Used to activate the DOM editor and screenshot capture only on the tab where you explicitly invoke the extension.
• "scripting" — Used to inject the visual editor and inspection tools into the current tab upon user activation.
• "storage" & "unlimitedStorage" — Used to store pending change drafts and captured screenshots locally on your device without size limits.
• Optional Host Permissions ("http://*/*", "https://*/*") — Allows you to opt-in permanent network interception and probe tracking on specific development domains if desired.
