The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About Deadline Drawer
Some pages come with a date attached. A delivery that should arrive by Friday. A free
trial that starts charging on the 14th. A return window that closes at the end of the
month. A quote that expires. An application you said you would chase up next week.
Right now you either trust your memory, email yourself a link, or set a phone reminder
that has lost the page it was about.
Deadline Drawer saves the page and the date together, in one action, so the obligation
never loses the page it came from. When the date arrives it tells you, and the page you
saved is sitting in your list with its title, its address and whatever you noted at the
time.
HOW IT WORKS
Click the Deadline Drawer icon on any ordinary page. The title and address of that tab
are already filled in for you.
Enter the date it is due. The time defaults to 9:00 AM and you can change it. The date
field starts empty on purpose, and a save with no date is refused with a message rather
than given a deadline you never chose.
A category is optional, and it says what the record is:
- Follow up. This one also fills the date in as seven days from today, which you can
then edit.
- Delivery
- Return by
- Trial ends
- Quote expires
Delivery, Return by, Trial ends and Quote expires set the category only. They do not
guess a date, because the date is one you know and the extension does not. There is also
a "No category" option if you do not want to tag the record at all.
A short note is optional.
A screenshot is optional too, and it is off unless you switch it on for that particular
save. It captures the visible part of the page, it is shown to you before anything is
stored so you can check it, and you can remove it at any time afterwards. It is worth
having, because weeks later a picture of what you were looking at is usually what actually
jogs your memory. It is also the part to be thoughtful about: whatever was on screen is
what gets captured, including anything on the page that has nothing to do with what you
are saving.
Then click Save.
YOUR SAVED DEADLINES
"See your saved deadlines" on the popup opens your full list in a tab. From there you
can:
- Filter by status: open, due, done, dropped or archived
- Filter by category
- Open any item's details: its date, your note, the screenshot, and the saved address as
selectable text with a "Copy link" button
- Rename an item, so it is not stuck with whatever the page title happened to be
- Change an item's category
- Reschedule it to a new date and time
- Mark it done, or drop it if you decided not to do it
- Delete an item, or delete just its screenshot
- See how much storage you are using, and free space up
Items you have marked done or dropped move to an archived list once their date has
passed, so the working list stays the things that still need attention. Archiving is a
change of status only. Nothing is removed and archived items stay fully visible under
the archived filter.
ABOUT THE REMINDERS
When something comes due, the toolbar icon shows a count and Chrome shows a notification
naming that item.
Clicking the notification opens that item's own record: its title, its due date, your
note, the screenshot if you saved one, and the address it came from, shown as text you can
select with a "Copy link" button beside it. If you rescheduled, finished or deleted the
item since the reminder was created, you get your full list instead of being taken to
something that has already moved on.
A notification can only appear while Chrome is running. If your machine is asleep or the
browser is closed when a deadline passes, nothing is lost: the item is already marked due
in your list, because due-ness is worked out from the date every time the list is drawn,
and the notification is delivered the next time Chrome runs. Treat the notification as
best effort on top of a list that is always right, not as a guaranteed alarm clock.
If notifications are turned off for this extension in Chrome, the popup tells you so
before you save, and shows you where to turn them back on. Anything that comes due in the
meantime is still recorded and is announced once notifications are allowed again.
EVERYTHING YOU SAVE STAYS ON YOUR DEVICE
No account. No sign-in. No telemetry. No network requests of any kind.
Deadline Drawer does not run any code on the pages you visit and does not read their
content.
What it handles, in full:
- The address and title of the tab you clicked the icon on, at the moment you clicked it.
- The date, time, note and category you enter.
- An image of the visible area of that tab, IF you tick "Include screenshot" for that
save. This is website content and is disclosed as such. It is captured only on that
tick, never automatically and never in the background, shown to you before it is stored,
kept in the browser's own local database on your machine, never transmitted anywhere,
and deletable on its own or together with its record at any time. Uninstalling removes
it along with everything else.
All of it is stored locally and none of it is ever uploaded or synced.
The one exception is small and worth stating plainly: your light or dark theme choice is
kept in Chrome's own extension settings, so if you have Chrome sync switched on, that
single preference travels between your own Chrome profiles the way your other Chrome
settings do. Nothing you save travels with it.
You can export everything to a single file at any time, screenshots included, and import
it back. The export carries an integrity manifest, and an import is all or nothing: a
corrupted or altered file is rejected with a reason instead of being partly applied.
Uninstalling removes everything it has stored. Export first if you want to keep it.
WHAT IT DOES NOT DO
It does not track packages, look up merchants, or read order details off a page.
IT DOES NOT OPEN THE SAVED PAGE FOR YOU. This is deliberate, and it is worth explaining
because it is the one thing people expect that this extension will not do.…
