The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About dashi — a calm new tab
What's new in 1.0.8
Bookmarks, on your new tab. Your Chrome bookmarks a whole folder at a
glance instead of one cramped row. Search everything at once and open the
top result with Enter, or open a folder as tabs, a new window or a named
tab group. Fix things where you notice them: right-click to rename, edit
or delete — with an undo Chrome's own bar never had — drag to reorder or
file into folders, and drag or paste a link in to save it. Pin a tile to
any folder and it takes that folder's name. dashi asks for bookmark
access only when you add the widget, and changes a bookmark only when
you do.
New theme: Matrix. Digital rain behind the panels and a phosphor
terminal in dark mode — green, amber or ice — or a printout on paper in
light. The widgets play along: process-meter timers, an LCD calculator,
terminal-style quotes.
Plus: a pinned widget no longer covers the search bar.
dashi replaces your new tab with a dashboard you arrange yourself.
Open a new tab and the board is already there. Nothing to sign into, nothing to set up first.
🧩 Arrange it once
Drag a tile anywhere you want it, resize it, and it stays where you put it. Tiles snap into line with their neighbours as you drag, so a board ends up looking designed rather than merely tidy. One Tidy up command straightens the whole thing without resizing anything or moving a tile far from where you left it.
➕ Keep only what you use
Add tiles from the Add widget menu and remove the ones you don't. Keep several pages if one is not enough. Every screen size remembers its own arrangement, so plugging a laptop into a monitor doesn't scramble the layout you made on either one.
📝 Write things down without leaving the tab
Notes save as you type. A to-do list holds what you need to get back to. A calculator handles arithmetic, percentages, compound growth and unit conversion.
🎨 Make it look like yours
Pick from a gallery of themes, each shown as a card wearing its own look. Clicking one restyles the whole board live behind the dialog, so trying them is browsing rather than committing.
🚫 Private by design
No account, no sign-up, no analytics, no servers, no tracking. There is nothing to log into and nothing to configure. What you write stays in your browser, and roams between your computers through Chrome's own sync if you are signed into Chrome.
🪶 Small, and it stays small
The whole extension is about 230 KB. A new tab loads only the tiles actually on your board, rather than everything the extension can do.
Free, with nothing to sign up for.
