About Dajia Translate
Dajia Translate helps you learn a language from the things you already read and watch. It translates — and it helps the words actually stick.
BILINGUAL WEB PAGES
Turn any article into a side-by-side reader. Each paragraph gets its translation right underneath, and one shortcut switches it back.
DUAL SUBTITLES ON NETFLIX, YOUTUBE AND DISNEY+
See the original line and your language together. Hover a word to pause the video and look it up. Loop a sentence, play sentence by sentence, or blur the translation to train your ear.
HINTS FOR THE WORDS YOU DON'T KNOW
Tell us your level once. Dajia Translate underlines only the words above it and adds a tiny hint in your language, so you keep reading instead of opening a dictionary.
WORD CARDS
Click any word to see its reading (kana for Japanese) or pronunciation, its meaning, audio, and the sentence you found it in. Ask the AI to explain how it's used in that exact sentence.
A WORD BOOK WITH CONTEXT
Save words in one click. Each one keeps its original sentence and a link back to where you found it. Export to Anki, CSV or JSON.
BILINGUAL PDF READER
Open a PDF in the built-in reader: the original page on the left, a bilingual reading column on the right, scrolling together. The file is read on your device and never uploaded. Word hints, word cards and your word book work inside the PDF too, and saved words remember the page number. Translate the whole document, then print it or save it as a bilingual PDF. A scanned page can be read and translated one page at a time. The reading column re-flows the text, so it does not keep the original page layout.
IMAGE AND MANGA TRANSLATION
Hover the button on an image, right-click "Translate this image", or press Alt+Z and drag a box over anything on the screen, including readers that draw pages on a canvas. The original text is erased and the translation is set into the speech bubble; one click shows the original again. Open the "Text" panel to look up and save the words in the image. Image translation needs a signed-in account: 30 images a month for free, 300 a day with Pro.

FREE, WITH AN OPTIONAL PRO PLAN
Everything above is free; image translation is free for 30 images a month. Pro adds Dajia AI translation and word explanations, AI translation for whole episodes of subtitles, 300 translated images a day, and cloud sync for your word book.
PRIVATE BY DEFAULT
Your word book and settings live in your browser. PDFs are read on your device and never uploaded. Text is sent to a translation service only when you turn translation on. An image is sent only when you choose to translate it: it goes through our server to Alibaba Cloud to read the text, and is discarded afterwards, not stored. Cloud sync is optional and Pro-only, and you can switch it off or delete your cloud data at any time.
Shortcuts: Alt+A toggles page translation (and opens a PDF in the reader), Alt+W toggles word highlights, Alt+Z translates a selected area (Option on Mac). Change them at chrome://extensions/shortcuts. While watching video: A / D previous / next line, S repeat, Q sentence mode, H listening mode, E reveal, V full transcript (all listed in Settings → Shortcuts). Subtitles can also blur the translation or the original so you read or listen first and check afterwards. When a word is not in the dictionary, the word card asks AI for an entry and saves it to your personal dictionary.
