Daily Bread replaces your browser's new tab page with a beautiful, distraction-free Bible verse, a structured reading plan, and a streak tracker that keeps your devotional habit alive — day after day. Whether you are starting your morning, taking a break between tasks, or winding down at night, Daily Bread ensures that God's Word is always the first thing you see when you open a new tab. ──────────────────────────────────────── ✨ WHAT MAKES DAILY BREAD DIFFERENT ──────────────────────────────────────── Most Bible extensions show you a random verse and nothing else. Daily Bread is a complete daily devotional companion built directly into your browser. It combines a verse of the day, guided reading plans, streak accountability, personal highlights, a reading history calendar, and a reflection journal — all in one elegant, distraction-free new tab experience. No account required. No internet sign-up. No ads. Just Scripture. ──────────────────────────────────────── 📖 DAILY BIBLE VERSE — NEW TAB ──────────────────────────────────────── Every time you open a new tab, Daily Bread displays a carefully selected Bible verse drawn from your active reading plan. The verse is presented in a beautiful serif typeface against a serene daily background photo, making it feel less like a browser extension and more like a devotional book left open on your desk. • Verse of the day tied to your reading plan so every reading builds on the last • Large, readable typography using the Crimson Pro serif font — designed for Scripture • Beautiful daily background photos that change each day • Upload your own custom background photo for a personal touch • Light and dark mode — automatically styled for readability in any lighting ──────────────────────────────────────── 📅 STRUCTURED BIBLE READING PLANS ──────────────────────────────────────── Daily Bread ships with three complete reading plans, each carefully structured for meaningful engagement with Scripture: 📘 GOSPEL OF JOHN — 21 DAYS Walk through the entire Gospel of John in 21 days. Each day features a key verse from the passage alongside the full reading reference. Perfect for new believers, those returning to faith, or anyone wanting to deepen their understanding of who Jesus is. The Gospel of John is widely considered the clearest portrait of Christ in all of Scripture. 📙 PSALMS — 30 DAYS A month in the Psalms. This plan guides you through 30 of the most beloved and comforting Psalms in the Bible — from Psalm 23 ("The Lord is my shepherd") to Psalm 91 ("He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High"). Ideal for seasons of prayer, anxiety, grief, or simply a desire to worship. 📕 PROVERBS — 31 DAYS One chapter of Proverbs per day for a full month. Proverbs is the Bible's handbook for wise living — covering everything from how to use your words to how to handle money, relationships, and work. This plan aligns with the natural rhythm of a 31-day month, making it easy to pick up any time. Each plan includes: • Day-by-day key verse displayed on your new tab • Full reading reference (e.g., "John 3:1–21") shown below the verse • Progress bar so you always know how far you have come • Previous / next day navigation to move at your own pace • Keyboard shortcuts (P for previous, N for next) for power users ──────────────────────────────────────── 🔥 STREAK TRACKER & HABIT BUILDING ──────────────────────────────────────── Reading the Bible consistently is one of the most powerful spiritual habits you can build — and Daily Bread makes it effortless to track. Every time you click "Mark as Read" after engaging with the day's verse, Daily Bread: • Adds one day to your streak counter • Records the date in your reading history • Shows your current streak count with a flame badge • Celebrates milestone streaks with an animated modal (7 days, 30 days, 100 days, 365 days) Your streak is displayed prominently at the bottom left of every new tab, giving you a gentle, daily reminder of the habit you are building. Missing a day resets the streak — providing just enough accountability to keep you coming back. The streak system is entirely local. No account, no server, no leaderboard. Just you and the Word. ──────────────────────────────────────── 📆 READING HISTORY CALENDAR ──────────────────────────────────────── A visual monthly calendar shows every day you have read, coloured in amber. Navigate back through previous months to see your consistency at a glance. The calendar tells a story — and it is your story of faithfulness. • Full monthly grid showing exact days read • Navigate forwards and backwards through months • Today highlighted with an amber ring • Stats showing days read this month and total days read all time • Accessible via the calendar icon in the top-right corner of every new tab • Drops down as a clean panel — no full-screen overlay ──────────────────────────────────────── 🔖 PERSONAL HIGHLIGHT LIBRARY ──────────────────────────────────────── Found a verse that spoke to you? Save it with one tap. Daily Bread includes a built-in highlight system with five colour options: 🟡 Gold 🔴 Rose 🔵 Blue 🟢 Green 🟣 Purple Highlighted verses are saved to your personal library, accessible from any new tab or from the popup. Your library is fully searchable by colour, and each highlight can be expanded to show: • The full verse text in beautiful serif typography • The verse reference and translation • Your personal note (if added) • The date you saved it • A remove button if you want to clear it Highlights are stored locally using IndexedDB — they are private, permanent, and never leave your device. ──────────────────────────────────────── ✍️ REFLECTION JOURNAL ──────────────────────────────────────── After marking a day as read, Daily Bread gently invites you to reflect. A short prompt appears asking what stood out to you from today's verse. Your …
