Cutter — skip the silence

Cutter gives you back the time videos waste on dead air — silence, pauses, low mumbling. Speech plays at 1×, quiet stretches play fast. Nothing to pre- process, nothing to wait for. WHY YOU'LL LOVE IT • Lectures and talks finish faster with zero loss of information. • Streams and podcasts stay watchable through slow patches. • Course videos stop feeling like a chore. HOW IT WORKS Cutter attaches a tiny audio analyser (Web Audio API) to any HTML5 <video> on the page. The moment the sound drops below your threshold, playback speeds up. The moment someone speaks again, it snaps back to 1×. All of this happens inside the browser tab — nothing is sent to any server. WHAT'S FREE • Real-time silence skipping on any site with HTML5 video. • Adjustable skip speed (2×–8×) and sensitivity (dB threshold). • Optional "skip silence fully" mode. • Works in Chrome, Chromium, Yandex Browser and Firefox. • No account required. • Fully local — your video and audio never leave your device. WHAT PRO ADDS (coming soon) • Smart trim on YouTube: our server analyses a clip once and returns a "speed map" that physically cuts silence out — not just speeds it up. • That map is cached and shared across users, so the same video is processed only once for everyone. • Per-site profiles, filler-word detection, and time-saved stats are on the way. PRIVACY For the basic skip, Cutter sends nothing anywhere. For the optional smart trim on YouTube, the extension shares only the public YouTube video ID — never your audio or video data.
