The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About CookieBlock
CookieBlock helps clear cookie-consent interruptions by automatically choosing privacy-preserving options when it can verify a safe choice.
When it can safely identify a website’s controls, CookieBlock rejects optional advertising, analytics, performance, functional, personalization, and social-media cookies while leaving strictly necessary cookies available. Common consent platforms are handled through dedicated rules, with conservative multilingual detection for custom banners.
WHAT YOU GET
• Automatic handling on HTTP and HTTPS websites
• Support for common consent-management platforms
• Multilingual consent-button recognition
• Per-site pause control
• Optional toolbar confirmation badge
• Local totals for verified banner clears
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
CookieBlock runs locally. It has no analytics, advertising, user account, remote code, or developer-operated server. Website content and browsing activity are not transmitted. Settings and anonymous totals stay in Chrome.
WHY WEBSITE ACCESS IS NEEDED
Cookie banners can appear on any HTTP or HTTPS website. CookieBlock uses this access only to inspect consent-interface labels and controls locally, apply the selected privacy choice, and hide the detected overlay. Storage remembers preferences, paused domains, anonymous totals, and short-lived per-tab origin and document guards that prevent retry loops across reloads. When the popup is opened, temporary active-tab and scripting access can read only the current hostname if the normal page connection is unavailable, keeping the per-site switch reliable after an extension reload.
CookieBlock never clicks “Accept all” as a fallback. If it cannot identify a safe choice, it can keep the detected banner invisible without pretending consent was recorded.
LIMITATIONS
No consent tool can safely support every interface. Closed components, newly changed banners, and accept-or-pay walls may not be actionable. Chrome prevents extensions from operating on internal pages and the Chrome Web Store.
