The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About Comment Timeline for YouTube
Find songs and favorite moments in long YouTube videos and streams using timestamps left in comments.
Comment Timeline for YouTube turns timestamp links such as “0:32” and “1:12:45” in comments already loaded on a video page into a chronological index beside the video. Explore setlists, stream highlights, and topics using the index created by viewers.
Find the moment you want
- Search loaded timestamps by song name, comment text, author, or time
- Search emoji and fan marks. Separate terms with spaces, such as “☄️ solo”, to find entries containing both
- Combine search with an author filter
- Select a timestamp to jump to that position, or use Previous / Next to move through the visible index
- Read multiple comments about the same moment together under one timestamp
- Return to the original comment from the author icon
Read comfortably
- Highlight the entry for the current playback position
- Turn on “Follow the current timestamp” to keep that entry in view
- Pause automatic following while searching so you can read the results
- Keep your reading position and keyboard focus when more comments arrive
- Choose Automatic, 日本語, or English for the interface
- Choose Auto, Light, or Dark theme
- Show or hide search and Previous / Next separately
Load more comments when needed
The extension initially analyzes comments YouTube has already loaded on the page. Select “Load all” to look for more. “Expand replies too” is off by default. Enabling it opens visible replies; “Load comments and replies” checks additional replies as well.
You can stop additional loading at any time. When loading finishes or you stop it manually, the page returns to its original scroll position and the loading and reply settings collapse to give the index more room. Finding a timestamp alone does not close the settings, and you can reopen them manually.
Save your index and video details
- Plain text
- HTML with links to YouTube
- HTML with an embedded player
Exports include all loaded timestamps for the selected author, even while a search hides some entries. Both HTML formats let you search again by song, words, or emoji after opening the saved file. Searching saved HTML requires neither the extension nor an internet connection; opening or playing a video does require a connection.
You can export video details even when no timestamps are found. Player HTML retains the video title, URL, available stream date or publication date, and save date. Its filename uses the channel name, date, and video ID to help organize stream archives.
Player HTML is intended to be served from a web server. It keeps the player at the top while you browse and supports seeking from the timestamp list. If the embedded player is not ready or is unavailable, timestamp links can open YouTube instead. Opening the file directly from disk may restrict playback.
Getting started
1. Open a standard YouTube video, live stream, or stream archive.
2. Select “Open panel” from the extension icon in the Chrome toolbar.
3. Choose a timestamp or search for a song, word, or emoji.
What's new in v1.4.4
Added index search, Previous / Next navigation, grouped comments for shared timestamps, and search within exported HTML. Improved description and emoji extraction, guidance after settings or playback failures, and recovery when comments load late or the comment section is replaced. Restored exports with zero timestamps and adjusted when loading settings automatically collapse.
Supported pages and limits
Supports standard YouTube video pages (/watch) and live stream pages (/live/). Shorts are not supported. An index cannot be created from disabled comments or comments without timestamp links. Analysis and search cover comments loaded on the page; the extension does not guarantee that every comment will be retrieved. Changes to YouTube's page structure may temporarily affect comment detection.
Privacy
Comment analysis, search, and file generation happen in your browser. Analyzed data is not sent to a developer-operated server, and browsing history and authentication data are not collected. Display language, reply expansion, theme, search visibility, Previous / Next visibility, and playback-follow preferences are saved on your device.
Files are saved locally after your request. The extension does not upload them to an external server. Opening player HTML connects to the YouTube embedded player.
This independently developed extension is not affiliated with or endorsed by YouTube.
