The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About Collections
Edge removed Collections in version 149. This brings them back, in Edge and in Chrome, and imports the collections you already had.
Collections is a side panel for keeping what you find while you browse, and an AI reader for what you kept. Press "Save this page" to keep the tab you are on. Drag a link, a selected passage or an image from any page into the panel. Or right-click anything and choose "Save to Collections". Everything lands in the collection you are working on: a trip, a purchase you are comparing, a project you are researching. Then ask the collection a question, get a summary under every page, or have the pile tidied.
Let AI read what you saved
- Summarize a saved page: one line under the title says what the page is, another says why it belongs in the collection
- Ask a collection a question: the answer is built only from the pages you saved and cites each one, so it works as a research assistant over your own reading
- Digest a collection of ten or more pages: themes, comparisons and the questions still open
- Tidy a collection: cleaner titles, duplicates found, a better name, every change reviewed before it lands
- Group forty open tabs into named collections by what you were doing, an AI tab manager for the end of the day
- Better titles on save, opt-in: two saves called "Dashboard" come back told apart
These need sign-in. They are free for every signed-in account during the preview (until 10 December 2026), then part of Collections Pro, from $4.99 a month. Everything else stays free, and more reading features are on the way.
Coming from Edge Collections
- Settings has "Import from Edge Collections". It reads the collections_export.csv Edge let you download, or the collectionsSQLite database Edge left in your profile folder, which also brings back the pictures the export never had.
- Names, links, notes and images come across. Nothing is merged or overwritten.
- Step by step, with the file paths for Windows, Mac and Linux: https://collections.r44j.dev/edge-collections
What you keep
- Links and pages, with their favicon and title
- Selected text, kept as a quote with a link back to the source
- Images, with a thumbnail
- A note on any item, and a name of your own for any item
How you work with it
- Save this page, add all open tabs, drag and drop, or the right-click menu
- As many collections as you need, each with its own emoji and colour, in a bar along the bottom of the panel. Alt+1 to Alt+9 switch between them; Ctrl+K (⌘K on Mac) jumps to any collection, item or action
- Open a whole collection at once as a named tab group or in a new window
- Turn a collection into a checklist for a trip or a shopping list
- Reorder items by dragging, or move one to another collection by dropping it on that collection's tile
- Copy a collection, or all of them, as Markdown and paste it into your notes app
- Open the panel from the toolbar icon or with Alt+Shift+C (Option+Shift+C on Mac)
Where your data lives
Everything is stored in your browser profile on this computer. No account is required. If you turn on Sync with Google in Settings, your collections are kept in sync across the browsers where you sign in, and you can share a collection as a read-only page or delete the synced copy at any time.
Works in Chrome, Edge, Brave and other Chromium browsers from this listing. A Firefox version is on Firefox Add-ons.
Collections replaces what Edge Collections and Pocket used to do for people who simply want a place to put things while they browse. No tags, no feeds. It does one thing, and with AI it reads what you put in it: summaries, answers with citations, digests, tidy titles and grouped tabs.
