About Code Viewer for D2L
Code Viewer for D2L is for teaching assistants and instructors who grade programming work in D2L Brightspace. Instead of downloading every submission, open it inside D2L, run it, and enter the grade and feedback on the same screen.
What it does
• Shows each student's submitted files with syntax highlighting, including zipped submissions, notebooks and documents.
• Runs Python programs in the browser the way they run on a computer: prompts for input appear in the output panel and drawings open in a window.
• Previews web-page submissions in an isolated sandbox.
• Lets you add files the course provides once, so programs that depend on them run.
• Saves the grade and feedback where D2L keeps them for each assignment, as a draft or published. Feedback already in D2L appears formatted and can be edited.
• Keeps unsaved work as drafts in your browser, with keyboard shortcuts for moving between students and saving.
Follows D2L
• Works only in courses where you are a TA or instructor, through your own D2L sign-in, so D2L's permissions apply.
• Follows each assignment's grading setup in D2L, and anonymous assignments stay anonymous.
• You turn it on for your school's D2L site once from the toolbar button, and Chrome asks for access to that site only.
Privacy
Everything stays in your browser. Student programs run with network access blocked. Code Viewer has no server and collects nothing.
Limitations
Only Python runs for now; other languages can be read but not run.
Code Viewer for D2L is an independent tool. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by D2L Corporation.
