The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About Clutio - AI Dictionary & Vocabulary Builder
Clutio is an AI dictionary and Chrome extension. Right-click a word in an English article to look up what it means in that sentence.
A dictionary lists many meanings, and a translator converts the whole text.
Clutio shows the meaning in this sentence first. Other common meanings sit below it.
■ How to use
1. Select a word or short phrase on any page
2. Right-click and choose "I don't know... (Translate with Clutio)"
3. A card opens beside the selection, and it is saved with its sentence
Shortcut: Alt+S (Ctrl+S on Mac)
■ Main features
• In-context meaning: what it means in this sentence, other common meanings, and examples with translation
• Pronunciation: hear a word with one click on the card, list or review screen
• Automatic saving: every lookup goes into your word list with its sentence. You can search it and export CSV
• Review: type the missing word into your saved sentence (Alt+R)
• Saved words on pages: they are marked as you read, and hovering shows the meaning
• Study and test PDFs: A4 sheets made from your list, with an answer key for the test
• Choice of AI: Groq (default, a service that gives free AI access), ChatGPT or Claude
• Seven interface languages: Korean, English, Japanese, Chinese, Spanish, French and German
■ Start for free
Clutio is free. Groq, the default, currently allows 1,000 requests a day and 30 a minute. No card is needed.
1. Add Clutio to Chrome and the setup guide opens
2. Sign up at Groq. It needs a phone number check
3. Create an API key on Groq, a secret string that tells the service it is you
4. Paste the key into the setup guide and keep it private
■ Privacy
• There is no sign-up or login, and Clutio runs no server
• Your word list, study history, settings and key stay in this browser
• Only when you look something up, the selected word and its one sentence go to the service you chose
• The page address and title are not sent
• That service handles what it receives under its own policy
■ Who it is for
• Non-native readers who get stuck on a familiar term in English news or technical docs
• Learners who want to build vocabulary from what they actually read
• Anyone tired of opening a tab to define a word
■ FAQ
Q. Can I use ChatGPT or Claude?
A. Yes. ChatGPT (OpenAI) and Claude (Anthropic) work with your own API key, and that company bills you.
Q. Which browsers does it work in?
A. Chrome and Chromium-based browsers such as Edge, Brave and Opera. Firefox and Safari aren't supported yet.
Q. Does it work with text in other languages?
A. Yes. The service reads the sentence, and meanings appear in your interface language.
Q. Can I change the shortcuts?
A. Yes, at chrome://extensions/shortcuts.
Q. Do I need an internet connection?
A. Only when you look something up. Browsing and reviewing don't use the service.
