About Classroom Timer
⏱ Classroom Timer is a clean, reliable countdown timer for teachers. Open it in one click, pick the minutes, and put giant fullscreen digits on the projector — a timer for the classroom that every student can see from the back row. When time is up, the screen flashes and a school bell rings, so nobody misses the end of an activity.
🌟 Why teachers pick it
🔹 Huge digits made for projectors, smartboards and interactive whiteboards
🔹 Zero setup: no account, no sign-in, no configuration
🔹 Works completely offline — unlike online timer websites, it loads instantly even on restricted school networks
🔹 Requests no special permissions and collects no data
🎁 What you get
🔸 One-click presets: 1, 2, 3, 5, 10, 15, 20 and 30 minutes
🔸 Custom countdown: any minutes and seconds
🔸 A big fullscreen countdown timer — one click or the F key
🔸 Classroom stopwatch mode that counts up for races and challenges
🔸 4 alarm sounds: school bell, chime, gong and beep — or run it silent
🔸 A visual alert: the whole screen flashes red when time is up
🔸 The +1 min button extends time on the fly when the class needs a little more
🔸 Pause, resume and reset at any moment
🔸 Dark and light themes for bright or dimmed rooms
🔸 Remaining time stays visible in the tab title while you switch tabs
🔸 An active countdown survives a page reload — it is restored from the saved end time
🔸 Your last time, sound and theme are remembered automatically
🎯 Perfect for
✔ Timed tests, quizzes and exam practice — a fair, visible test timer
✔ Group work, learning stations and rotations
✔ Brain breaks, quiet reading and independent work
✔ Classroom games, debates and speaking practice
✔ Transitions between activities ("2 minutes to clean up!")
✔ Presentations, workshops, meetings and webinars
Outside school it works just as well: workouts, cooking, board games and focus sessions at home.
🚀 How to start
1️⃣ Click the icon in the toolbar — the timer page opens
2️⃣ Tap a preset and the countdown starts instantly, or set your own minutes and seconds
3️⃣ Press F and the giant digits fill the projector screen
4️⃣ Pause, add a minute or reset at any moment
5️⃣ When time is up, the screen flashes red and the bell rings
⌨️ Keyboard shortcuts
Space — pause and resume · R — reset · F — fullscreen · ↑ / ↓ — add or remove a minute
📽️ On the big screen
It was built to be projected. The digits scale to the whole window, the progress bar is visible from any desk, and setting up a timer for the projector or interactive whiteboard takes exactly two clicks. For younger students it doubles as a classroom visual timer: the shrinking bar shows how much time is left before they can read the digits. In a dimmed room, switch to the dark theme — it is easy on the eyes.
📚 Quick classroom recipes
1. Warm-up: a 5 minute timer for classroom starters — pick the 5 preset and open the day with a visible countdown
2. Reading sprint: a 20 minute timer with the gong at the end — the class settles into quiet reading
3. Station rotation: open one countdown per tab and give each station its own time
4. Exit ticket: two minutes on the clock, a beep at the end — the lesson wraps up on time
5. Speaking practice: the stopwatch counts up while a student presents; press Space between speakers
❓ Questions and answers
— Does the countdown keep running if I switch tabs?
Yes. It is tied to the system clock, so the time stays accurate even in a background tab.
— Can I run several timers at once?
Yes — start it again and each one opens in its own tab, for example one per student group.
— Will the alarm ring from a background tab?
Yes — the bell rings even when the tab is in the background, and the screen flashes red as well.
— Do I need the internet?
No. Everything works offline.
— Is there a stopwatch?
Yes, switch to the stopwatch timer on the start screen and count up instead of down.
— Can I use it outside school?
Of course — it is just as handy for meetings, workshops, homework sessions and cooking.
