About Ćirilica i latinica: Serbian Cyrillic ⇄ Latin
Ćirilica i latinica automatically converts text on web pages from Serbian Cyrillic to Latin script, or from Latin to Cyrillic. You choose the direction.
FOR SCREEN READERS
Many speech synthesizers, such as Eloquence used with JAWS, cannot read Cyrillic. The extension converts not only the visible text but everything a screen reader announces: button and field names (aria-label), image descriptions, page titles, live announcements and content that streams in, such as answers on ChatGPT and Gemini. Text you type into input fields is never changed.
FOR READERS WHO PREFER CYRILLIC
Serbian pages written in Latin script are shown in Cyrillic. The extension leaves alone what should stay in Latin: web and e-mail addresses, product names like iPhone and ChatGPT, Roman numerals, code and English text. It also knows the words where "nj" and "dž" are two separate letters, such as injekcija and nadživeti.
FEATURES
- Choose the direction: Cyrillic to Latin or Latin to Cyrillic.
- Turn conversion on or off per site, also with Alt+Shift+L. Your screen reader announces the new state, and the page does not need to reload.
- Your own exceptions dictionary: words that stay as they are, or are always replaced with your own spelling.
- Works inside frames (iframes) and web components.
- Also converts Russian, Ukrainian and Macedonian letters to Latin.
- Settings in Serbian (Latin or Cyrillic) and English.
PRIVACY
Everything happens locally in your browser. The extension sends no data and uses no analytics.
Made by a blind developer who needed JAWS to read Serbian websites written in Cyrillic. Free, and it will stay free.
