The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About ChromeTreeBar
🆕 What's New in v1.3.0
- Pinned tabs strip — pinned tabs render as space-efficient pills at the top of the panel, shrinking as you add more
- Close other tabs — clears everything except the tab you clicked and its children; pinned tabs are left alone
- Live group preview — creating a group applies immediately, so the tree updates as you type the name or pick a color
- Readable untitled groups — an unnamed group shows its shared site, or a tab count when its tabs span several sites
- Favicons that actually load — some sites' icons previously fell back to a letter permanently; they now come from Chrome's own icon store
- Bookmark favicons — bookmarks show the real site icon instead of a uniform gold star
- Compact menus — menus and dialogs now match the density of the rows they act on
- Fixes: saved groups past the tenth were unreachable, menus could stack on top of each other, and dragging a link into the panel threw an error

By organizing your tabs into a hierarchical, drag-and-drop tree structure, ChromeTreeBar makes navigating dozens (or hundreds) of open tabs effortless and visually intuitive.
Key Features
🌳 TREE STYLE HIERARCHY
Say goodbye to the top tab bar overflowing. ChromeTreeBar displays all your open tabs in a clean, vertical list. You can nest tabs under other tabs by dragging and dropping them, creating a structured hierarchy that mirrors your workflow.
✨ NATIVE CHROME TAB GROUPS INTEGRATION
Do you use Chrome's native Tab Groups? ChromeTreeBar natively supports them! Your colored Tab Groups appear seamlessly in the tree. You can drag tabs in and out of groups, create new groups, or change group colors directly from the sidebar.
📌 PINNED TABS, WITHOUT THE WASTED SPACE
Your pinned tabs stay at the top where you expect them - but as compact pills instead of the wide tiles Chrome uses. The pills shrink as you pin more, so a full row costs you a fraction of the vertical space in a narrow side panel. Pinning stays in sync with Chrome both ways.
💾 SAVED GROUPS
Never lose a tab group again. When you close a tab group, ChromeTreeBar automatically saves it - name, color, and all its tabs. Click the "Saved" button to reopen any previous group with a single click, right where you left off. Your nesting structure is restored too.
🪄 AUTO-ORGANIZE
One click groups your loose tabs by website domain, merging into matching groups when they already exist - and now your nested tab hierarchy is preserved through the grouping.
🌙 THEME CUSTOMIZATION
Choose between Light, Dark, or Auto (system) themes to match your preferences and working environment. The interface adapts beautifully to your choice with smooth transitions.
🔎 INSTANT SEARCH
Looking for that one article you opened 2 hours ago? Use the built-in search bar to instantly filter your open tabs and bookmarks by title or URL.
🔖 INTEGRATED BOOKMARKS
Your Chrome Bookmarks are available right alongside your active tabs. Access your saved pages quickly, search through them, and open them in new or current tabs with a simple right-click.
🖱️ ADVANCED CONTEXT MENU
Right-click any tab or group to unlock powerful actions:
- Duplicate a tab as a nested child of the original
- Pin or unpin a tab
- Mute/unmute tabs playing audio
- Close a tab along with all its nested children simultaneously
- Close every other tab, keeping the one you clicked and its children
- Add multiple selected tabs to a new color-coded group
- Open entire folders of bookmarks at once
⚡ MULTI-SELECT SUPPORT
Hold Ctrl/Cmd or Shift to select multiple tabs at once. You can drag and drop entire branches of tabs, or close them all with a single click.
⚙️ SETTINGS MENU
Access quick settings with smooth animations. Customize your theme, adjust panel position, and easily report bugs or request features through integrated GitHub links.
Permissions Justification:
ChromeTreeBar requires permissions (tabs, tabGroups, bookmarks, sidePanel, storage, and host permissions) strictly to function. These permissions allow the extension to read your tab titles/URLs, display favicons, manipulate native Tab Groups, and save your custom hierarchy locally. All data is processed locally on your device - we do not collect, transmit, or store any of your browsing data on external servers.
