About Chordy: Real-Time Guitar Chord Detector
Chordy listens to the song playing in your browser tab and shows its guitar chords in real time.
FEATURES
- The current chord, large and easy to read, with a fingering diagram
- A chord sheet of the whole song, four chords per line, that you can copy as plain text
- Diagrams for every chord used in the song
- The key of the song, worked out from the chords it hears
- Talking intros and street noise are skipped, so only real chords show up
- A delay slider (0.1 to 1.0 s) to choose between faster reaction and steadier chords
- Light and dark theme that follows your system
- Available in 14 languages
HOW TO USE
1. Play a song in a tab, for example a music video or a web music player.
2. Click the Chordy icon in the toolbar on that tab. The side panel opens.
3. Click "Listen to this tab". Chords appear as the song plays.
4. Click Stop when you are done. Use the reset button to start a new chord sheet.
PRIVACY
All listening happens on your device. Audio is analyzed in the side panel and is never recorded, saved or sent anywhere. Chordy has no account, no analytics and makes no network requests. It only stores your delay setting on your device.
PERMISSIONS
- Tab audio capture: when you click "Listen to this tab", Chordy hears the tab you opened it on. Capture stops when you click Stop or close the panel.
- Active tab: clicking the Chordy icon gives access to that one tab only, which Chrome requires before its audio can be heard. Chordy also shows that tab's title.
- Side panel: Chordy's chords and controls live in Chrome's side panel next to the page.
- Storage: saves your delay setting on your device.
GOOD TO KNOW
- Recognizes major and minor chords. Seventh and other extended chords show as the closest major or minor chord.
- Works best on songs where guitar or piano carries the harmony. Dense mixes and jazz are harder.
- Chordy can only hear the tab where you clicked its icon. To switch songs in another tab, click the icon on that tab.
- Some music players may block tab audio capture. Chordy cannot hear those.
- Requires Chrome 116 or newer.
