ChatGPT Chat Exporter – Complete Markdown & File Bundle

Save the ChatGPT conversation you have open as readable Markdown, with an optional ZIP for its available files and media. The exporter loads earlier rendered history, scans the conversation and checks the first and latest boundaries and turn coverage. A complete capture downloads automatically. If those checks fail, the panel explains why; an explicitly downloaded partial result keeps its warning and a -partial filename suffix. Completeness refers to the rendered conversation, not every server-side branch or your account library. Markdown retains supported headings, lists, tables, code and links. Turn headings show the speaker, turn number and timestamps when ChatGPT exposes them. The exporter does not invent missing message dates. Include media keeps file handling in the same panel. Available files are organized under media/user/ and media/chatgpt/ alongside conversation.md and manifest.md. The manifest reports missing files and separates transcript completeness from media completeness. Protected files must first be downloaded with ChatGPT's normal controls and explicitly selected in the panel. Ambiguous filename matches need confirmation. Processing happens locally. There is no exporter backend, telemetry or account-wide export API. Media jobs are temporarily stored in local extension storage; expiry is enforced on retrieval and cleanup paths rather than by a guaranteed deletion timer. Optional media requests contact supported OpenAI-related hosts with browser-managed credentials; the extension does not inspect tokens or private request headers. Requires a rendered conversation on chatgpt.com. Wait for responses to finish before exporting. ChatGPT interface changes, unavailable history and protected or expired files can limit results.
