The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About Chat Exporter for Microsoft Teams — Files & ZIP
Export Microsoft Teams chat history with messages, images, links, reactions and accessible attachments to one local ZIP archive.
Chat Exporter for Microsoft Teams helps you download the currently open personal or group conversation without Microsoft Graph setup or Microsoft 365 administrator consent. It automatically loads older messages from Teams’ virtualized history, preserves authors and timestamps, and creates the archive locally in your browser.
ONE ZIP, MULTIPLE USEFUL FORMATS
• chat.html — a readable, searchable offline transcript
• chat.json — structured data for automation and portability
• chat.csv — one message per row for Excel and spreadsheets
• links.csv — links shared in the conversation
• attachments/ — accessible images and files
• attachments-report.csv — downloaded, skipped and failed items
• failed-attachments.html — original links for files that could not be downloaded automatically
HOW TO EXPORT A TEAMS CHAT
1. Open a personal or group chat at teams.cloud.microsoft or teams.microsoft.com.
2. Click the extension icon.
3. Choose whether to include accessible files.
4. Click “Export chat to ZIP”.
5. Keep the Teams tab open while older history and files are processed.
6. Save the completed ZIP.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
• Conversation processing happens locally in your browser.
• No developer-controlled server receives your messages or files.
• No account, analytics, advertising or telemetry.
• No remote executable code.
• No Microsoft Graph application or Microsoft 365 administrator consent.
• Free and open source.
LIMITATIONS
The extension can export only content already available to the signed-in Teams account. Some OneDrive or SharePoint files may be unavailable because of permissions, expired links, tenant policy, Conditional Access, CORS or deletion. Their original links and error details remain in the reports.
This release exports the currently open personal or group chat. It does not export channel posts or an entire Microsoft 365 tenant.
