The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About Captain Spyglass — Alignment Inspector
Spyglass is a lightweight visual alignment and screenshot tool for web pages. Turn it on to reveal how elements line up, then capture and mark up exactly what you see — without a single byte leaving your device.
WHAT IT DOES
• Alignment overlay — a transparent column grid, edge guides, and a center cross drawn over the live page, so you can see spacing and alignment at a glance.
• Hover to inspect — move your cursor over any element and Spyglass highlights its exact edges and center lines.
• One-key toggle — press Alt+Shift+A (or click the toolbar icon) to switch the inspector on or off on the current tab.
• Screenshot with the overlay — hold ⌘ (Mac) or Ctrl (Windows/Linux) and click anywhere to capture the visible page, overlay and all, into your local history.
• Capture history + editor — browse your captures, rename them, and edit each one with simple tools (crop, highlighter, pen, rectangle), then download the PNG.
PRIVACY-FIRST BY DESIGN
Spyglass does everything on your machine. No sign-in, no account, no analytics, no server. Your screenshots and settings are stored locally in your browser and are never uploaded or shared. It requests no broad website access — it only acts on the tab you point it at.
WHO IT'S FOR
Designers, front-end developers, QA engineers, and anyone who needs to check spacing and alignment on a live page or grab a quick, marked-up screenshot.
Spyglass is part of the Pirates of Bugs toolkit.
