The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About CallVocab — Live Subtitle Translator & Dictionary
Turn every English video call into an English lesson.
CallVocab reads the live captions your call already shows and mirrors them into
its own panel — where every single word is clickable. See a word you don't know?
Tap it. You get its English meaning, its pronunciation, and it's saved to your
vocabulary list instantly. Don't understand a whole sentence? Tap 🌐 and read
that line in your own language — 16 are supported.
Then, after the call, review everything as flashcards — organized by meeting,
with the full transcript of each call kept for you.
━━ HOW IT WORKS ━━
1. Join a call on Google Meet or Microsoft Teams.
2. Turn on live captions (CC).
3. Click any word in the CallVocab panel to see its meaning — it's saved
automatically.
4. Open CallVocab later to review your words as flashcards.
━━ WHAT YOU GET ━━
• 💡 Know every word but not what they MEAN? ("let's circle back", "ballpark
figure", "I'm not sure that flies") A 💡 appears on any line with an idiom or
business expression: tap it to read what it means in your language, and
whether the speaker is postponing, politely saying no, or setting a deadline.
Built in — works offline
• The panel sits right on top of your call's own captions — no duplicate
captions, nothing extra covering the meeting. Drag it anywhere to move it
• Click any word → English definition, phonetics, and examples
• Hear any word pronounced by a native English voice
• Every word is saved with the sentence it came from, so context is never lost
• Tap 🌐 on any caption line to read it in your language — line by line, only
the lines you ask for
• Click words INSIDE a definition too — look up what you don't understand in the
explanation itself
• Flashcards built from your own saved words
• Every meeting kept with its full transcript — read, export or delete it
• Organize words into your own sections, and mark words as mastered
• Export everything as Markdown or plain text
• Interface in 16 languages: English, العربية, Español, Français, Deutsch,
Italiano, Português, Русский, 中文, 日本語, 한국어, हिन्दी, فارسی, اردو, עברית, Türkçe
━━ FREE, WITH NO CATCH ━━
• No account, no sign-up, no login
• No API key to paste in
• No subscription, no trial, no ads
• Your words and transcripts are stored on YOUR computer, not on a server
━━ IMPORTANT — PLEASE READ BEFORE INSTALLING ━━
• Live captions must be ON in your call. CallVocab reads the captions the
platform provides; it does not do its own speech recognition.
• ZOOM is not supported. Zoom lists only its desktop and mobile apps as able to
show captions, and no browser extension can read a desktop application, so
there is nothing for CallVocab to read.
• MICROSOFT TEAMS: only Teams on the web. Some organizations disable live
captions by policy; if yours does, CallVocab has nothing to read.
• The built-in Arabic/Turkish word dictionary works offline but covers common
vocabulary. Rarer words still get their full English definition.
━━ PRIVACY ━━
Your vocabulary, meetings and transcripts stay in your browser's local storage.
Clicking a word sends only that one word to a free public dictionary API.
Tapping 🌐 sends only that one caption line to a translation service — nothing
is translated unless you ask for it, line by line. The 💡 expression notes are
built into the extension and send nothing.
