About Browser Translations
Read any web page side by side with its translation. Browser Translations shows the main text of the current page sentence by sentence: each original sentence is followed by its translation, so you can compare the wording line by line while learning a language.
Features:
• Parallel, sentence-by-sentence reading of articles, news, blogs and Wikipedia pages
• 9 languages (English, Spanish, Italian, French, German, Russian, Korean, Japanese and Chinese) with automatic source-language detection
• Interface in the same 9 languages, dark and light themes
• Your last 10 translations stay available when you close and reopen the panel; a Clear all button erases them instantly
Translation engines:
• Free, no sign-up: MyMemory (default) and Lingva
• Optional: AI translation through a supported cloud provider using your own API key, or a local self-hosted engine so no text leaves your computer
Privacy:
• Text is sent only when you press Translate, directly from your browser to the engine you selected. There is no relay server, and nothing is sent to the developer.
• API keys stay in your browser and are sent only to the chosen provider.
• Translation history is kept in memory only and erased when the browser closes.
• Pages on document and email services (such as Gmail and Google Docs) are never translated, to protect sensitive content.
