About BlurScreen — Screen Blur for Privacy & Screen Sharing

BlurScreen — Screen Blur Tool for Privacy & Screen Sharing Protect sensitive information while you share your screen. BlurScreen lets you draw persistent, live blur zones over anything on a web page — an email address, a customer name, a Slack message, an account balance — so it's safe to demo, present, or screen-share on Zoom, Google Meet, or Microsoft Teams without scrambling to hide things first. Think of it as a screen blur / privacy filter you control precisely, region by region, rather than an all-or-nothing camera blur. FEATURES • Draw rectangular or elliptical blur zones directly on any page • Move, resize, rename, and delete zones; adjust blur intensity and overlay opacity per zone • 5 blur styles: Gaussian, Frosted, Defocus, Blocky, and Solid • Live blur that keeps working as the page scrolls, resizes, or an app navigates (SPA-aware) — never a static screenshot • One-key quick-hide (⌘⇧B / Ctrl+Shift+B) for live presentations • Presentation Mode strips away all editing UI so only the blur is visible • Per-site permissions, per-domain zone sets, and named presets BUILT FOR PRIVACY, NOT JUST MARKETED THAT WAY BlurScreen makes zero network requests. There is no analytics, no crash reporting, no cloud OCR, no remote config. Everything — zone positions, sizes, labels, and settings — is stored only in Chrome's local storage, on your device, and is never transmitted anywhere. BlurScreen also never asks for access to every website up front. It requests permission for one site at a time, the first time you use it there, through Chrome's own native permission prompt — you can revoke access for any site at any time from the Options page. WHAT BLURSCREEN BLURS Sharing a Chrome tab or window: the blur is fully visible to everyone, because it's baked into the page's own rendered pixels before any screen-sharing tool captures them. Sharing your entire screen: BlurScreen's blur still applies to Chrome's content, but — like any browser extension — it cannot draw over other applications (Slack, Terminal, your menu bar, etc.). KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS ⌘⇧B / Ctrl+Shift+B — quick-hide all blur areas instantly ⌘⇧A / Ctrl+Shift+A — start drawing a new blur area (Reassign anytime at chrome://extensions/shortcuts)
