About blr

blr — mute the humble brags Tired of "Thrilled to announce..." posts? blr automatically detects boastful LinkedIn posts — job announcements, internship flexes, humble brags, buzzword thought leadership, milestone celebrations — and blurs them right in your feed. Your feed stays useful; the noise fades away. HOW IT WORKS An open-source zero-shot AI classifier (MobileBERT, via Transformers.js) runs entirely on your device. Every post in your feed gets a "blur score" from 0 to 100. Posts that cross your chosen threshold get a smooth blur overlay with a small score badge in the corner. Hover over any blurred post to reveal it instantly. FEATURES • Smart detection — catches new-job announcements, humble brags, AI buzzword posts, career-milestone flexes, and more • Adjustable sensitivity — set the blur threshold anywhere from aggressive to chill with one slider • Score badge — flagged posts show a color-coded score in the top-right corner • Hover to reveal — blurred posts unblur with a smooth animation while your cursor is on them • Instant toggle — turn blurring on or off from the popup, no page reload needed PRIVACY FIRST • All AI inference runs locally in your browser using WebAssembly — the AI runtime is bundled inside the extension • No post content, browsing data, or personal information ever leaves your device • No analytics, no tracking, no accounts • The only network request is a one-time download of the open-source model weights from Hugging Face, cached by your browser afterward PERMISSIONS • Access to linkedin.com — to read post text locally and apply the blur • Storage — to save your on/off, sensitivity, and badge preferences locally • Offscreen document — to run the AI model in the background (Manifest V3 requirement) • huggingface.co — to download the model weights on first install Built by Kush Mathur and Eddie Macgill.
