The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About Bloom · 3D
Bloom is a single 3D flower that lives in your toolbar and, if you want, fills your new
tab page. It grows only when you take care of it.
WHAT MAKES IT DIFFERENT
Growth follows Liebig's law of the minimum: a plant grows on whatever it has the least
of, not the most. Water it ten times and it still will not grow if you never look at it.
Watch it all day and it will not grow if the soil is dry. A line in the corner of the
scene always tells you which resource is holding it back.
CARE
• Water — one watering soaks the soil toward 84%. Dry soil drinks a lot, damp soil very
little. Water an already wet pot and the roots begin to rot.
• Light — it grows every second you have it open, but photosynthesis saturates after
about three and a half minutes a day. You cannot rush it in one sitting.
• Turn the pot — the real position of the sun is computed from your location and the
time of day, and the stem bends toward it. Never turn the pot and the flower grows
visibly crooked, losing up to a quarter of its growth rate. One quarter turn undoes it
over a few days, exactly like a real windowsill plant.
• Seasons — spring is fastest; winter is a dormancy where growth slows and the soil dries
slower, so you water less. South of the equator the seasons flip.
• Nothing ever dies. Neglect it for ten days and it wilts to nothing, but it always
recovers.
WEATHER
Pick your city, or let it guess from your system time zone — it never asks the browser
for your location. The backdrop then becomes your real weather: the sun in its actual
direction with the shadow falling to match, rain, snow, fog, lightning in a storm, and
the moon and stars at night.
Weather is not only scenery. Bright sun speeds growth up, heat and wind dry the soil
faster, rain and snow dim the light. Everything is capped so that no combination of
weather can kill the plant.
CHOOSE YOUR FLOWER
Eight species — daisy, tulip, rose, sunflower, lily, violet, poppy and daffodil — in
eight colours. Each has its own petal count, opening angle, curl, stem height and leaf
shape. Every card in the picker is a live 3D render of the mature plant, so you see what
you are going to get before you plant it.
Bring one to full bloom, collect its seed, and the flower stays in your garden while the
next generation starts a little faster.
EIGHT POTS
Five shapes and six patterns. Some unlock as you collect seeds. Patterns are computed
from the pot's surface, so they turn with it.
MADE WITH CARE
• No external libraries — the 3D engine is written from scratch on a plain 2D canvas:
perspective projection, depth sorting, Lambert shading and a real cast shadow that
follows the sun.
• Works offline. The only network request goes to Open-Meteo for weather, and only after
you choose a city.
• Syncs across the Chrome profiles you are signed in to.
• English and Azerbaijani, switchable in settings.
• No ads, no accounts, no tracking, nothing to buy.
The new tab page can be switched back to a blank page in settings at any time.
```
---
## Single purpose
```
Bloom shows and simulates one ornamental 3D plant that the user grows by caring for it.
It appears in the toolbar popup and, optionally, on the new tab page. Every permission
exists to keep that single plant alive and to draw it under the user's real weather.
```
## Why does the extension override the New Tab page?
```
The new tab page is the same single flower shown full screen. It is the core of the
extension, not an add-on: the plant grows while it is visible, so showing it on the new
tab is what makes the daily loop work. Users can switch it back to a blank page at any
time in the extension's settings.
