About Blanx: Fill-in-the-Blank Quiz Maker
Blanx lets you turn web pages or PDF files into fill-in-the-blank quizzes (also known as cloze quizzes) so you can study by active recall instead of passively re-reading.
Passively re-reading notes and highlights feels productive, but it's one of the weakest ways to remember anything. Forcing yourself to retrieve the answer (active recall) works far better. Blanx makes it effortless: hide the words you need to know, then quiz yourself on the spot.
Unlike studying with flashcards, Blanx lets you test your recall in the context of the original material.
HOW IT WORKS — ON WEBPAGES
1. Click the Blanx toolbar icon and turn Blanx on. It stays on across the pages you browse until you turn it off.
2. Highlight any word or phrase you want to memorize — it's instantly hidden behind a blank input field, right where it sits on the page.
3. Type your answers, then click "Check answers" to see which ones you got right.
4. Turn Blanx off anytime from the toolbar popup.
HOW IT WORKS — ON PDFs
1. Open a PDF. Online PDFs open in Blanx automatically. For PDFs on your computer, click the Blanx toolbar icon and choose "Open PDF".
2. Highlight any word or phrase — it's instantly hidden behind a blank input field.
3. Type your answers, then click "Check answers".
Click the × on any blank to bring the word back.

PRIVACY & PERMISSIONS
Blanx works on most websites and PDFs, so Chrome asks for permission to access the pages you open. Blanx only reads page text while you've switched it on, and your page content stays in your browser — it is never sent to a server. Blanx does collect anonymous usage analytics (for example, how often features are used) to improve the extension; this contains no personal information and no page content. No ads, and we don't sell your data.
