Better for YouTube

Better for YouTube redesigns YouTube in Google's Material 3 Expressive style and makes it lighter to run. LOOK • Dynamic color: the whole interface takes its palette from the video you're watching, in light or dark theme. • A wavy progress bar like YouTube Music's. Each chapter waves on its own and finished chapters stay straight. • A shape-morphing play button, tonal controls, rounded menus and Material captions. • Minimal mode: no Shorts, no end-screen cards, no clutter in the sidebar. FASTER • Ambient mode, live blur effects and hover previews are off, so less GPU and network work. • Off-screen videos and comments aren't rendered until you scroll to them. • Telemetry and ad-tracking requests are blocked. Your watch history keeps working. • Chrome's own GPU animations are used instead of YouTube's JavaScript polyfill. BETTER • Videos play at least at 1080p (or the best a video offers). A quality you pick yourself always wins. • A picture-in-picture button next to the volume. • Scroll over the player controls to change volume. • "Video paused. Continue watching?" is dismissed when you've been away. Every feature is a switch in the popup and applies instantly. No account, no tracking, no data leaves your browser.
