About AWSCost

The price sits on the row you are already looking at. AWSCost reads the page in your browser and never sends it anywhere. It never touches your AWS account: no sign-in, no keys, no calls to AWS. WHERE IT WORKS AWSCost prices the resources that run all month and make up most of a bill: servers, disks, databases, caches and network gateways. The full list of console pages is on https://awscost.fyi/extension. WHAT YOU SEE - A monthly price on each resource, such as "$47/mo". - A ⚠ in front of the price when a database, cache or EKS cluster is about to move to extended support. Hover it for the date and how much the bill goes up. - A total for the page, in the column heading. - A short reason instead of a price when there is none to show, such as "stopped" or "spot - not priced". Hover a price to see how it adds up and what it leaves out. WHAT THE PRICE IS AWS's on-demand list price, for running the whole month. It follows what the page shows: an instance's operating system and licence, a database's engine, size and storage, a volume's type and IOPS. A database past standard support includes the extended support charge. WHAT IT LEAVES OUT Traffic and other usage charges, Savings Plans, Reserved Instances, discounts and the Free Tier. Instance prices leave out storage, which the Volumes page prices on its own. Your bill can be lower than the list price, or higher where traffic is heavy. BEFORE THE FIRST PRICE On some pages the price needs columns the console hides by default. Click "click to show price" and AWSCost turns them on in the table's own settings. PRICES STAY CURRENT Once a day AWSCost asks its own server, prices.awscost.fyi, for the price file for the region you're viewing. The file is built from AWS's public price list. If prices are more than 3 days old, each one is marked with an asterisk. LIMITS - Only the console pages listed on awscost.fyi/extension. - The console must be in English. - Every standard AWS region. GovCloud and China are not covered. PRIVACY The daily request carries only the region and the extension's version, and nothing about it is recorded.
