AutoEdge VIN Lookup

AutoEdge VIN Lookup is for car dealers who use AutoEdge. It does one thing: when you point at a VIN on a web page, it shows an "Appraise in AutoEdge" button. Click it, and that vehicle opens in AutoEdge's Appraise screen in a new tab. WHERE IT WORKS • On automatically on nine wholesale auction sites, including Manheim, OPENLANE, ADESA, ACV Auctions and SmartAuction. The full list is in the screenshots and at https://www.autoedgeusa.com/extension-privacy • Off everywhere else until you turn it on. Click the toolbar button to turn it on for the tab you are looking at, or open the toolbar button's menu and choose "Always on for this site." Your browser asks you before it turns on for a new site, and "Turn off for this site" turns it off again. HOW IT WORKS • Point at a VIN. The button appears only for a real 17-character VIN that passes the check-digit test. • Click the button. AutoEdge opens in a new tab with the VIN filled in. Enter the mileage and run the appraisal as usual. • If you are not signed in, AutoEdge asks you to sign in first, then shows the vehicle. WHAT IT DOES NOT DO • It does not read the whole page or keep anything it reads. It looks only at the text under your pointer, on your own computer. • It makes no network requests of its own and sends nothing in the background. The only thing that leaves your browser is the VIN you click, in the address of the AutoEdge tab it opens. • It does not sign you in, read cookies or passwords, track your browsing or show ads. • It never starts an appraisal on its own. You enter the mileage and start it. You need an AutoEdge account to use the Appraise screen. AutoEdge is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by the auction companies named here.
