About Auteura
Auteura is a virtual camera for Chrome and ChromeOS. It adds "Auteura Virtual Camera" to every website's camera list, and the picture it sends gets background blur, framing, looks and color, all processed on your device.
Background
• Blur everything that isn't you, with adjustable strength and edge softness
• Portrait light: a soft light on you, positioned where you want it
• Skin smoothing that touches only the person
Framing
• Digital zoom up to 4×, position and mirroring
• Follow me keeps you centered while zoomed in
Look and color
• Six built-in looks, or import your own .cube LUT file
• Exposure, contrast, highlights, shadows, temperature, tint and saturation
• Sharpening, vignette and film grain
Camera hardware
• Control what your webcam exposes to Chrome: exposure, shutter, ISO, white balance, focus, and pan, tilt and zoom on motorized cameras
Your own color
• Match the panel and toolbar icon to your Chrome theme with swatches, a color picker or the eyedropper
How to use it
Open the controls from the toolbar icon (they open in Chrome's side panel). On a video site such as Google Meet, Zoom or Teams on the web, choose "Auteura Virtual Camera" as your camera, or turn on "Default camera for sites" so sites that ask for any camera get it automatically. Changes apply live. "Open preview" shows the same picture in its own tab, so you can set things up before a call.
Where it works
Websites and installed web apps in Chrome. It doesn't appear in desktop apps (the Zoom or Teams apps, OBS), Android apps, Linux apps or the ChromeOS Camera app, because those don't use Chrome's camera APIs.
Privacy
Everything is processed on your device. Auteura has no servers, no accounts and no analytics, and makes no network requests of its own. Your video goes only to the site you're using it with.
