Ashes - New Tab

Ashes replaces your default new tab page with a live countdown of your remaining time, based on your birthdate and expected lifespan. It’s not just a timer — it’s a quiet, persistent reminder that life is finite, and every second matters. 🕯️ Why Ashes? Most new tabs are empty, noisy, or distracting. Ashes is the opposite — it's empty of clutter, but full of meaning. Each time you open a tab, you're reminded of the most important truth: You are still alive. And time is still passing. This extension is for people who: - Feel like time slips through their fingers. - Want to be more intentional, present, and self-aware. - Are tired of mindless browsing and digital noise - Need a simple, grounding anchor in their daily flow. - Ashes isn’t about fear — it’s about clarity. No productivity hacks. No task lists. Just time, visible. It’s not just a tool. It’s a perspective. Inspired by the idea that the average person spends ~10 years of life just browsing, Ashes is a memento mori for the digital age. A soft glow in your browser that says: This moment is real. What will you do with it? 💬 What You Might Feel A little uneasy at first. (That’s normal.) Then: calm, clarity, and eventually… control. Ashes isn’t for everyone. But if it speaks to you, it may quietly shift how you live your days. 🧑‍💻 About the Creator Hi, I’m Aryan Techie — a developer & creator who builds tools that help people live more deliberately. Ashes wasn’t built for productivity. It was built for presence. For that tiny moment when a tab opens and you pause, even for a breath — to remember: You just have one life. Make it yours. Install Ashes and make every tab a small moment of truth. Because time doesn’t wait. And you’re still alive. Peace.
