The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About Aozora - YouTube Hide Filter
It exists so that the time you spend scrolling past things you did not want to see
can go to the things you did.
WHAT IT DOES
- Hide a whole channel
One click, from a button on the thumbnail or from the "..." menu.
- Keeps working after a rename
Channels are matched by channel ID (UC...), not by name, so renames and lookalike
spellings do not slip through.
- Comments disappear too
Comments from channels you blocked are hidden. Three levels of strictness to choose from.
- Keyword filters
Hide videos whose titles contain words you specify.
- Allow list
Channels you never want hidden win over every other rule.
- Allow-list-only mode
Hide every channel except the ones on your allow list.
- Focus mode
Turn off Shorts, recommendations, related videos, the comment section, the sidebar,
and more — surface by surface. "Today I only want what I searched for" is one switch away.
- Send Home to your subscriptions
Opening Home takes you straight to new videos from channels you subscribe to, instead
of the algorithm's recommendations.
- Hide videos you've already watched
Clear out watched videos in bulk.
- Watch Later and Add to queue buttons, brought back
YouTube removed the hover buttons on thumbnails; this brings back an equivalent (experimental).
- Subscription lists
Add the URL of a public block list and it is refreshed automatically every 24 hours.
- Backup
Export and import your settings and lists as a JSON file, ready for a new machine or a reset.
- Copy a channel ID
For anyone building a subscription list, copy a channel ID in one click.
- Auto-detected AI channels
When YouTube's own "Made with AI" disclosure is detected, the channel is added to your
detection list automatically.
- Description filters
When a word you've registered appears in a video's description, the channel is added to
your detection list automatically.
- Community posts too
Posts from a channel (polls, announcements) can be hidden using the same rules as videos.
- Send "Not interested" automatically
Optionally, blocking a channel can also tell YouTube you're not interested in it
(opt-in, experimental).
- Twenty languages
Japanese, English, and eighteen more of the world's major languages. Selectable
independently of your browser language.
- Built to stay readable
Contrast was measured against WCAG 2.2 AA and meets it. Keyboard operation, screen readers,
and browser font size changes are all supported. Light and dark follow YouTube's own theme.
PRIVACY
- There is no server. The developer never receives your data.
- Your settings and lists stay inside your own browser.
- No analytics, no advertising, no tracking of any kind.
- The only permissions requested are storage, alarms, and access to www.youtube.com.
No browsing history permission, no access to any other site.

THE THINKING BEHIND IT
Blocking is not the point. The point is to give you back an information space that is
as clear as an open sky. That means some firm lines:
- It never acts on YouTube on your behalf (no posting, reporting, disliking, or commenting).
- It will never label channels by politics, ideology, or belief. What gets hidden is your call alone.
- It is non-commercial. No paid tier, no donation prompts.
REQUIREMENTS
Chrome 111 or later.
