About Annotated
Annotated lets you clip, quote and cite anything you read or watch online, with the source always attached.
Open the side panel and highlight a sentence on any page, or right-click a selection and choose "Annotate". On YouTube or a podcast, trim a clip of up to 90 seconds. The panel sits beside the page, so you never lose your place. Nothing is drawn on the pages you visit.
NEW
• Try it before signing in. Write your take first; sign in with Google or X when you press Post.
• Page takes. See public takes on the page you have open, and add yours.
WHAT YOU CAN DO
• Clip text, video or audio from any page, or a post on X
• Add your take, written or recorded
• Publish to a permanent link, or keep it private
• Share to X, copy the link or save the card as an image
• Follow people, reply with citations and see community context notes
THE SOURCE IS ALWAYS ATTACHED
Every clip carries where it came from. Rights holders can file a claim on any public post.
PRIVACY
Nothing you read leaves the page until you clip it. To check for context notes and page takes, the panel sends only a one-way hash of the page address, never the address itself. A post on X shown as an embed loads X's viewer from platform.twitter.com, so X receives a request from your browser. No ads, no analytics SDK.
