The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About Analog
Analog helps you see where your attention goes and take some of it back.
Pick the sites you want to limit and the hours you want them closed. Analog blocks them during those hours and shows you a calm page instead.
You can also block a word wherever it appears in a page address, such as "shorts", block Google searches that contain a word or phrase, hide the part of a site that pulls at you, such as the YouTube home feed, or turn on focus mode, which blocks every site except the ones you allow.
This works on its own. You do not need an account, and you do not need the Analog app for Mac.
When you install it, Analog runs only on a short list of commonly distracting sites, such as YouTube, Instagram and Reddit, and on any site you add yourself. It is not active on any other site.
If you want the full picture, you can choose "Measure every site" in the popup. Chrome will ask you to allow access to all sites, and Analog will then count time on every site you visit, the way your phone counts every app. You can turn this off at any time in Chrome's settings for the extension, and you can mark any single site so it is never counted.
Focus mode and blocked words need the same access to every site, because they act on sites Analog was never told about in advance, and blocked searches need access to google.com. Analog asks for that access only when you turn one of them on.
What it records: the name of the site you are on (for example youtube.com), whether the tab is visible and focused, whether audio or video is playing, and when each visit starts and ends. Your time per site for the last week is kept in your browser so the popup can show it.
What it does not record: full page addresses, page contents, search queries, form data, or anything you type. Blocked words and searches are matched by Chrome itself, so Analog never sees the addresses or searches they are checked against. Private windows are not measured unless you allow Analog in them in Chrome's settings.
Nothing leaves your computer. There is no Analog server involved in what this extension does.
If you also use the Analog app for Mac, this extension connects to it so your browser time appears alongside the rest of your day. That is optional, and everything above works without it.
