The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About Ampira New Tab
Bookmarks are easy to save and easy to forget. The sites you follow are scattered across the web, and checking each one every day takes time. Ampira reads the bookmarks you choose, brings saved pages and new posts from those sites into one New Tab page, and sorts them by time or importance. Optional AI creates card summaries and a daily brief. It can also read an article and answer follow-up questions.
If you track an industry or research topic over time, put the sources you follow in one bookmark folder. Ampira keeps their updates together, sorts them by importance, and uses AI to create a daily brief. Open any article to ask follow-up questions.
Main features
• Ampira reads the browser bookmark folders you choose and treats bookmarks as the primary source list. You can supplement them with RSS, Atom, JSON Feed, and Public sources (Ampira). Bookmarks stay read-only; Ampira never creates, edits, or deletes them.
• Sort news by time or importance. Coverage of the same event is grouped together, and you can browse previous dates or find older items in the archive.
• Add your own API key to create card summaries and a daily brief. Paste a URL or ask about content already in Ampira to continue with answers grounded in article text. AI is optional; news fetching and sorting, Read later, and the reader work without it.
• See a different set of Inspiration cards each day from the Ampira preset or a bookmark folder you choose, and use “Shuffle” whenever you want another set.
• Save a page from the Ampira toolbar, or add a news or bookmark card to Read later. In-app reading shows extracted text, images, and video links without running remote scripts or embedded players; search and archive help you find content again.
• Quick bookmarks, to-dos, weather, browser search in the top field, and light or dark themes are available when you need them.
Data and permissions
• No account is required. Ampira has no ads, behavioral analytics, or developer-operated backend.
• Feeds, reading state, and caches stay in the browser. Read later, to-dos, and the selected weather city stay local unless you enable their separate browser account sync options.
• AI and image-search keys stay in the current Microsoft Edge profile. They are never synced or sent to the developer. A key goes directly to your chosen provider only when you use its feature.
• Website access is requested only when you enable a source or need to read a page, and each request is limited to named origins. You can revoke access in Settings.
Ampira replaces Microsoft Edge's New Tab page while the extension is enabled. Disable or uninstall it from Edge's extension manager to restore the default page.
