The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About A11ysaurio PDF Checker
A11ysaurio is your personal assistant and accessibility pre-auditor for PDF documents. Based on the Matterhorn Protocol and PDF/UA standards, it allows you to analyze the internal structure of any document without relying on expensive desktop software like Adobe Acrobat Pro.
Ideal for accessibility consultants, content creators, designers, and public institutions that need to guarantee their documents are accessible to all users, including those who use screen readers.
Privacy and Permissions
A11ysaurio PDF Checker requires the permission "Read and change all your data on all websites" (access to <all_urls>).
Why is this necessary? This permission is strictly required for the extension's side panel to automatically detect if you are viewing a PDF document in the active tab (whether on a web page or a local file) and inspect its accessibility tag structure in real time.
Your privacy is safe: A11ysaurio processes PDFs 100% locally in your browser. It does not save your history, does not read content from other websites, and does not send any documents or personal data to external servers.
KEY FEATURES
• Automatic Heuristic Validation
• Instantly detect critical accessibility errors:
• Missing PDF/UA identifier, document language, or title.
• Broken or illogical heading hierarchy (e.g., skipping from H1 to H3).
• Figures and images lacking alternative text (Alt text).
• Complex tables without properly linked headers.
• Expert-Level Tag Inspection
• Explore the PDF's internal tag tree (, , , ) visually and interactively directly from your browser's side panel.
• Screen Reader Simulator: Visualize exactly in what order and how assistive software (like NVDA or JAWS) will "read" the document. If the visual order doesn't match the reading order, A11ysaurio will reveal it immediately.
Professional Report Export
Generate a complete HTML dashboard with a single click, featuring a clean layout and high-legibility typography (Atkinson Hyperlegible). Perfect for attaching to audits, delivering to clients, or justifying accessibility remediations.
HOW IT WORKS
1. Open any PDF in Google Chrome (either by dragging and dropping it from your computer or clicking a web link).
2. Click the A11ysaurio icon and open the side panel.
3. Click "Analyze" and get results in milliseconds.
Important: You must enable the "Allow access to file URLs" permission in Chrome, or the extension will not work for local files.
Make regulatory compliance (WCAG, PDF/UA) stop being a headache. Install A11ysaurio today!
Changelog
Release notes 1.3.4
• Fixed duplicated text in Screen Reader View: Rewrote the text extraction algorithm to prevent exponential text duplication when parsing heavily nested tag structures.
• Empty Attributes Fallback: The extension no longer discards a tag's text content if its ActualText or Alt attribute was accidentally exported as just whitespace.
• Nested tags extraction: Developed a new "stacked memory" for the PDF.js engine. If a PDF contains decorative empty tags (like Spans) wrapping the real text, the extension no longer loses track of the content and reads it perfectly.
• Raw numerical MCIDs Support: Added support for processing raw number MCIDs in the structural tree generated by certain authoring tools, preventing skipped content.
What's new in version 1.3.3:
Changed:
• You can now trigger the manual URL analysis seamlessly by pressing the Enter key after pasting the link into the input field, eliminating the need to click the button with the mouse.
What's new in version 1.3.2:
Added:
• New secure file download proxy mechanism that allows the extension to analyze protected PDFs (such as Google Drive) by inheriting tab permissions to bypass CORS blocks.
Changed:
• The interface now automatically switches to the main tab ("Tree") whenever an error occurs, ensuring error messages are immediately visible.
Changed:
• Refined error instructions to explicitly explain how to interact with embedded PDFs in the WhatsApp Web chat interface.
Fixed:
• Resolved a compatibility issue that prevented PDF detection when using the Adobe Acrobat extension as the default browser viewer.
Fixed:
• Fixed the detection algorithm to correctly recognize temporary blob: URLs generated by web viewers and WhatsApp.
What's new in 1.3.1:
Improved Google Drive Detection:
• The extension now automatically extracts the PDF when using Drive's full-screen viewer. Additionally, if you try to scan from the grid/folder view, a helpful prompt will guide you to open the document in a new window.
UX Improvements: General error messages (like file reading errors or local security blocks) are now prominently displayed directly in the main Validation tab, saving you from having to dig through other tabs to see what went wrong.
Version 1.3.0
New features and usability improvements:
• Analysis Modes: Introduced a toggle to switch between "Basic Analysis" (common accessibility checks) and "Advanced Analysis" (full technical Matterhorn rules).
• Integrated Glossary: New Glossary tab explaining technical accessibility terms (PDF/UA, XMP, RoleMap, etc.) in plain language.
• Smart Links: Technical error popups now include direct buttons pointing to glossary explanations.
• Simplified Texts: Several error descriptions have been rewritten to be much more understandable and friendly for non-technical users.
• Optimized Icon: The extension icon on the toolbar has been updated by removing text to maximize visibility and ease of recognition.
• Advanced PDF/UA Metadata: New option in the "Edit Metadata" tab to easily inject the PDF/UA accessibility identifier (pdfuaid:part=1) into the XMP stream.
• Title Synchronization: When modifying a document's title, the extension now automatically syncs it across all deep PDF levels (Dublin Core XMP) and forces PDF readers to display it in the title bar (by setting DisplayDocTitle).
Version 1.2.0
Added:
• Multi-language Support (i18n): The extension now features native support for Spanish (es) and Engl…
