About 2FA Code Generator & QR Scanner
2FA Code Generator & QR Scanner can directly generate two-step verification codes in the Chrome browser, allowing you to complete login verification without picking up your phone. When a website requires a one-time verification code, open the extension from the toolbar, click on your account, and you can copy the current code. A countdown progress bar will show the remaining validity time of the verification code, preventing you from pasting codes that are about to expire.
When two-step verification is enabled on a website, the extension can recognize the QR code displayed on the page. You can also scan the QR code via the right-click menu, select a region on the page to scan, upload a screenshot, or manually enter the issuer, account name, and key. It supports time-based (TOTP), counter-based (HOTP), and Steam-based CAPTCHAs, and allows you to set the number of digits, refresh cycle, algorithm, and counter.
Quickly find verification codes; when there are many accounts, you can search by account name, email, or issuer. The extension offers three themes: light, dark, and system-appropriate. It can show or hide the countdown progress bar, and also supports automatically closing pop-ups after copying, confirmation before deletion, and setting an automatic lock time.
To migrate accounts from your phone, scan the export QR code in Google Authenticator or paste the otpauth link to import multiple accounts at once.
Backup accounts; you can export all accounts or only selected accounts. Export formats include 2FA Authen backup, OTP Auth URI list, JSON file that can be imported by other authenticators, and CSV. You can also print the accounts and QR codes as PDFs for offline backup. Supported backups can be password protected. The exported file contains the key; please keep it safe.
Locally generated and usable offline, the verification code is generated on your device without registration or server dependence, and can be used even when offline. You can set a master password and encrypt the key locally using AES-256-GCM. The master password is not saved and cannot be recovered if forgotten; please back it up offline beforehand.
This extended encryption algorithm, cited in a paper on encryption algorithms from the Computer Science Department at Carnegie Mellon University, is open-source and ranked #1 on three GitHub leaderboards. Users and developers can view the code, report issues, or suggest features. The extension is also featured on Product Hunt's monthly leaderboard, Zenodo, AlternativeTo, Uneed, and SaaSHub, and has passed Cure53's security assessment. Users are welcome to try it out and leave honest feedback. We will continue to improve image recognition, page compatibility, and batch download experience based on community feedback.
