About 16signals Verify
1. Who is this for ?
16signals Verify lets you prove your GitHub work to 16signals when you apply for a job, without sharing your GitHub password, cookies or account access. Much of a developer's best work lives in private repositories and company organizations. This extension shows that your work is real, and that you belong to the organization, while your GitHub login stays in your browser.
2. How does it work ?
• On a 16signals application page, press Continue.
• One small github.com window opens, using the GitHub account you are already signed in to, and confirms it is the account you chose.
• It reads your membership and activity counts in the organization you picked, and a sample of the merged pull requests you authored there: repository names, numbers, labels, dates and change sizes. Never your code.
• It creates a cryptographic proof that this data came from github.com. 16signals receives only the parts needed for the check. Your cookies and sign-in details are never revealed.
3. When does it run ?
Only when you press Continue on app.16signals.com, and only on github.com. It does nothing on other websites or on its own, and closes its window when the check is done.
