Ever tried having 20 tabs or more open in Chrome? You can’t even see the favicon of the tabs, not to mention the tab titles! TooManyTabs is a must-have extension that manages your tabs, reduces your tab overflow, and saves your sanity!
From the makers of TooManyTabs for Firefox, TMT has come to Chrome to help all your tab needs!
Now synchronized with official release.

This looks awesome!
From developer: thank you everyone in advance for testing and your comments; a reminder – the tab screenshots won’t be ready the moment you install. This is because of limitation of Chrome now, and it’s not alright to capture 30+ screenshots right the moment you load it in anyway. 😛 As you browse it will get filled up.
If you are an expert user, you can test out the experimental hotkey of “Ctrl+~” too. But it only works after you restart Chrome.
not working: ‘default_title’ is missing or invalid
@kamol: thanks for the tip, fixed!
This is really cool extension for Chrome, i love it so much!
Amazing, the best extension by far, just what i needed. I actually registered here just to write this 🙂
Although its a bit slow but once you open it couple of times it loads faster. And btw the CTRL+~ shortcut works without the need of restarting the browser 🙂
Great work.
When I launch it from the Chromium opened in the second screen I use (the one on the right), the pop-up horizontal size is bigger than chromium’s, and the pop-up ends up being split between my two screens.
Is it possible to correct it somehow ? Like making sure that the pop-up doesn’t oversize the chromium’s window ? (you could make it optionnal, for example for people with little screens, or having the same problem as I have.)
Great Extension, though.
too small for Chinese font , need option to set font
Looks Superb …….. very functional & well finished
Looks great, really a good job!
Why would anyone want to open that many tabs at once?
Great 🙂 i like it:) but again (just as with other extensions) it could be resizeable, or smaller and scrollable, for people with lower resolution (me). There are 5 tabs in column, I see only the title of 5th, if there would be 4 it would be just perfect.
I just have the similar problem. I installed a lot of extensions(about 10), the icon of TMT is by default the first one from the left(just beside the address bar). So the pop-up is out of the screen and I even cannot see the title of tabs from the left. I’m wondering if there is a way which can arrange the order of the extensions manually. Thank you very much!
@koolfy @kamol @byheaven Thanks for the report. We’ll be working on it. I too wish Chrome give users a way to rearrange the order of the extensions’ action buttons though.
Wow, I’m very impressed with this extension :). Does it save tabs across sessions?
@OwenCM: The “Suspended Tabs” and “Recently Closed” are saved across sessions. The other tabs are controlled by Chrome and are saved across session if you set so in Chrome->Options->Restore Pages on Start-up. Hope that helps.
SUGGESTION: Maybe you should add a feature to show favicon only for certain websites chosen by the user. Or maybe this could be an entirely new extension on its own independent from this one.
Why is it with every extension I try I get a Invalid value for permission
Okayy, it’s great but I just don’t like the design.
I’d rather have a simpler interface to match Google Chrome. Maybe there should be an option to have the most minimalist interface, white pop-up with just boxes with the pictures of tabs in a straight line and the find and categorise buttons.
But I think by default it should sort by how the tabs are already aligned, from left to right in Chrome.
Maybe if there isn’t many tabs, the box will be smaller and it grows until a certain size where the arrows pops up. I dunno… It’s taking quite a lot of space >.<
@thicky @long hm, minimalist design request? Got it, but that takes a little more time. 😛
why it says “extension are not enabled”?? i did it with “C:\…\chrome.exe” –enable-extension
FYI, it is now official on https://chrome.google.com/extensions/detail/amigcgbheognjmfkaieeeadojiibgbdp. Head there for an official download if you like TMT, thanks!
@Thicky (http://www.chromeextensions.org/tabs/tabsearch/) might be a better solution if your looking for simplicity. (not to steal this extensions thunder, i actually like this one better)
oh and howabout including the url in the search feature, thats my only real problem with it.
also, the whole fade in thing looks kinda ugly (in my opinion), hbout using a solid color for the background, (might i suggest google chromes default color scheme)
@BloodyT Ugly??! Let me talk to the artist at once! Will come up with something different for everyone to choose. *wink* The suggestions are awesome, thanks.
Ctrl+~ now works for me, but it brings it up in a separate window on another monitor rather than nicely pinned to the icon on the tool bar. Able to have the two act the same? It’s a process workflow break when it appears in different places depending on how you activate it 🙂
Great extension!
Thanks
Oops found another…if I open the tab, search…if there is one tab found it would be nice if hitting enter went to that tab. That way no mouse is needed and no arrow keys! If multiple tabs then I guess it just goes to the first unless you move.
Good on you for checking your comments frequently btw.
Again job well done
This is great. Will definitely come in handy!!
Tip:
Until Google allows you to reorder icons, disable all your extensions which have icons. Then re-enable them in your custom order, from left to right.
Example:
Extensions (3)
Session Manager
Print
TooManyTabs
If you want TooManyTabs to be leftmost, and Print rightmost, enable TMT first, then Session Manager, and finally, Print.
@sfgasfsdh:
It’s important that you should place it AFTER the quotes, and it is
–enable-extensions
And not
–enable-extension
or it won’t work.
WOW!!!
“Must have” extension!
Great stuff!
However not ideal for netbook resolution (vertical 600px) 🙁
