Using only a hotkey you can open URLs, e-mail address, or search by text-selection with this extension.
Ever get bored at having to copy-paste URLs that are not made in to “real” click-able links? It’s a cumbersome work, and can be made a lot easier. With Select It you won’t have to waste any more time. The only thing you have to do now is select the URL/e-mail address/text and hit Shift + F and let it do the correct action of what you selected.

Changed name to Select It
Chromium has already integrated a good working function for your desire. When I want to open a non-linked url I just mark it and drag it into the adressbar or to the tab-bar. There you can even decide the position of the automatically new created tab (Watch at the arrow, which is shown if you hold the link over tabs and between the tabs!).
Well you could select text press ctrl c to copy
then use ctrl v to paste
Thank you for this extension! I used something similar for Firefox, and since transitioning over to Chrome as my primary browser. I’ve missed having the functionality of opening URLs in new tabs via text selection.
04 / 05 rating (if you could add customization for different search engines, I would give it a full five.)
Pawlow, I’m aware of this feature, but it’s much quicker to be able use a keyboard shortcut. It certainly doesn’t hurt to be able to do both!
JC, being able to add new search engines is coming in the next release! Thanks for using my ext.
It would be great if we can do same thing from context menu. Like there – https://addons.mozilla.org/ru/firefox/addon/6003
Kyoshiro, whenever Google give us the ability to do that – I’ll be on it!
So good when I am on my laptop.
I found that when I try it with chinese characters it doesn’t work.
works good, but you can add the possibility to bind the double click? It’s frustanting hitting a combo like shift + f. If you doubl clicked on a link or a text non linked will good if you can..
