More about this extension

Details

QR-code tag is a very convenient way to quickly jump to a certain address in browser on for instance a mobile phone where it’s slow to type a long URL. Instead it’s possible to use a QR-code tag scanner and scan the QR-code which corresponds to the URL presented in the current tab in the browser. The QR-code tag scanner will then dispatch the browser in the mobile phone to the same URL.

Usage
  • Go to page you want to open in the browser on another device.
  • Press the QR-code tag extension-button in Chrome Toolbar
  • Start QR-code tag scanner on the device.
  • Scan the QR-code in the Chrome browser.
Now the same page will open on the other device.
Hope you’ll enjoy the extension as much as I do.

Change Log:

Increased default size so it's more compatible with higher screen resolutions.

    oh nice idea for an extension! :)

    Great to see this feature finally implemented. I really missed Mobile Barcoder from firefox :D
    Speaking of which, i think one more of its features would be nice to have in chrome: generating QR code from a link. In Mobile barcoder in firefox it’s invoked by right-clicking the link and choosing “generate barcode” from context menu. This way you can send links pointing directly to downloadable files to your pda/phone.

    Another suggestion: how about of making the popup window with barcode appear after the code is actually generated? Right now you can first see a small, empty window, and a while later it expands and the QR code appears inside. Not a big thing but considering all the nice smooth animations and transition effects in chrome it looks a bit out of place ;)
    Also, it would be nice to be able to adjust barcode size (devices without autofocus need to scan codes from farther away).

    Anyway, good job. Thanks a lot for this great extension.

    A+++

    Nice extension!. Maybe if you can add a option that when a text is selected, draw QRCode from selected text instead of URL will be very good.
