Some sites can only be displayed using IE, and with this extension you can now see those sites without leaving Chrome. Great for web developers who want to test the IE rendering engine, users who use sites with ActiveX controls, and users who want to use the explorer view for local files (i.e. file:// URLs).
Includes the ability to automatically open certain URLs in an IE Tab by specifying a URL filter.

It doesn’t work on windows 7.
For every page you visit with this you get counted in http://www.blackfishsoftware.com/ietab/counter.php?source=iecontainer that’s called spyware …

Friedrich, this is NOT spyware. It is a completely anonymous Google
analytics counter like you find on every web site on the planet.
There are no privacy concerns with this extension

Nice idea for an extension but I found it doesn’t render anywhere near accurately as the actual browser. Keep up the development, it could be a really handy tool
If you’re getting “Invalid value for ‘permissions[0]‘, you need the latest dev channel build of Chrome to use extensions from here: http://www.google.com/chrome/eula.html?extra=devchannel, as mentioned above.

It has been a while now since Google Chrome has been released with extensions, but one of the most requested featured add-on/extension was the IE Tab extension, i.e, opening websites in Internet Explorer while using Google Chrome browser.
I always believe in Chrome. He is the best web browser and I used him from the from the very beginning.

works just fine under windows 7. had it for some time now, not a single problem jet.
at first i couldn’t install it, but that was because i wasn’t logged in on the admin account of the pc.
i however do miss the autocomplete and password remember functions in the tab.
furthermore, when i log on on a website, and i return to a previous page(one within the logged in section) it requires me to login again.
besides that it works great. now i can completely avoid IE
I got it installed okay, but i can’t figure out how to configure the “auto urls”. No options to set int he extensions window, i only seem to be able to manually switch the rendering
The extension for Firefox had a really nice feature where you could create a list of websites (with wildcards) that would always load in an IE tab. This is really helpful for my company internal sites that require IE. Thanks for your work.
Firefox version provides option to Ctrl-click toolbar button and open page in editor of choice — it would be great to have this option added to the Chrome version!
Even though, I understand the anonymous counter feature you implemented as a developer for doing statistics and all that…. I still would love to see a checkbox somewhere to disable the counter FEATURE.

when i install the extension ,this error is showed ” Require value ‘name’ is missing or invalid.

When he come back in bottom there is a link for extensions, click there, IE Tab is one option, clik there and after on Install
Installing the latest chrome dev build does nothing for the invalid permissions error on my system. Netbook with XP, SP3, the latest dev build of chrome, fully patched, etc., etc. Anybody got anything else besides “install the latest build”?

It will NOT let me install this plugin. Every time I select at the top ‘Add To Chrome’ it opens the downloader at the bottom saying ‘This type of file can be harmful to your computer. Are you sure you want to install it’ I select SAVE (other option is DISCARD) and a little error message window pops up saying ‘invalid value for ‘permissions [0]‘ What the heck is happening and why is it now letting me add this to my Chrome browser??
I just saw another person having the same problem toward the top of these comments and an update was given to them to download this: http://www.google.com/chrome/eula.html?extra=devchannel but it sis NOT help at all. Still having the problem…

Great extension. However, the 2 sites that I need it for trigger javascript errors when I use this tool. What can I give you to see these problems. Both sites are password protected and I cannot give access to them.
For installing this extension (and perhaps others ^^) under windows 7 and avoid the Error message: “Invalid value for ‘permissions[0]‘” error:
First run Chrome with a right clic “run as Administrator”.
Then go to the extension page and install it, no more error.
At least it just worked for me!

It dose not work in Win XP with chrome3.0
The browser back button takes me out of IE Tab. The IE Tab window needs forward and back controls that work within the window.
Otherwise a really good product.
Nice extension, works well with Outlook Web Access from what I’ve seen so far.
However I’d like a feature where I give the extension a list of url’s that it should render, when I try to open them, so I don’t have to open it normally and then reopen with ietab. I anything like this planned?

Love the extension under Windows, but I would really love to get this working under Linux. I’ve managed to get IE working on it’s own on Linux by using Wine and ies4linux, but IE Tab just can’t see it. What would be fantastic is if you could allow us via the options button to choose where to look for IE then this extension should work in Linux (and probably Macs too!). If that can’t be done, maybe if you could let us know how to hack it manually.

Most of the pages I’ve tried to open with this extension either hang or work extremely slow. Sorry, doesn’t work for me.
This is an awesome plugin. I have windows 7 and it is working fine, with one exception. My TAB key does not work.
This is really useful extension. Good work, guys! I’m missing just 2 features.
1) Open in IE tab also predefined sites which requires login credentials. Currently I’m getting Chome login dialog at first and after then IE login dialog.
2) Define if new IE tabs should be opened by default in new window or new tab.
Still waiting for the mac version of IE tab…

1. When I try to display a page including a Google Satellite Map, I get several script errors, which after cancelling the map doesn’t display.
2. Am I correct in that this extension displays IE6 rendering engine? From what I have read, later versions if IE display pages compatible with Firefox and Chrome? If correct, as a webmaster, is why I have kept my IE6 installed and haven’t upgraded to insure my pages look ok in IE6 too. If this extension displays pages as in IE6, I can use it instead of the actual IE6 browser and “finally” upgrade my IE to see my pages in later versions??
OH NO! The main site which my company uses for doing our business requires IE or Firefox (and I hate FF), so I’ve been using IEtab in Chrome, and it’s been wonderful. However, after last night’s update, I get “navigation cancelled” any time I try to connect to a site which requires a client-side certificate in IEtab. This has rendered it useless to me. How do I get back to the old version, and prevent automatic updates?
