Sorry for the jump in version numbers. I have been having difficulty with loading old prefs/no prefs into the system. I have this extension mirrored at Google now: https://chrome.google.com/extensions/detail/aecjdopeahbjebcnpfdmbffecbgoofal

Okay guys... quick changes here:
This extension creates a toolbar list of RSS Feeds.
Probably wondering why I skipped 0.5.8? Well, I thought I had fixed the comma issue, but I had only fixed one part. Now any rss link should work! Also, I hopefully have finally figured out how to make the prefs take change immediately. This means that any link you add from the menu should show up on the next click of the menu.

Big 0.6.0 here:

Yet another update for you guys out there! Hopefully a little better bug handling in this one. Also there are a few new features: Prefs -- Prefs now has actual prefs! Quick Remove -- Remove any feed right from the popup
Perfect, nice! That’s how it should work! Nice extension!
And how do I create that folder???
Just as the developer described it:
1. Add a folder with a name of your choice in the bookmark’s bar.
2. Add a RSS-feed of your choice inside this folder. Name that bookmark “rsslink” or what you set up in extension’s options.
3. Click on the extension-symbol in toolbar and it will load the rss-feed.
For me it worked and still work this way.
First of all: Thank you! Really nice work, macusernick!

@Raicuparta — You can just right-click on the bookmark bar and add folder or go to the bookmark manager and add the folder there. Once the folder is added just add a bookmark inside of it with the RSS feed (make sure to name the link ‘rsslink’ for the time being, I’m fixing a bug I noticed last night).
Hi,
I’m sorry, I’v tried to follow your respoins to Raicuparta, but I cannot make it work/don’t understand it..
Can some1 please provide working guide/screenhots how this, should, work ?
Forgive me, I installed your extension, created the folder on my bookmarks bar, but if I bookmark the page I just have a regular bookmark, if I bookmark the rss link manually I get the rss view via a web-based reader (ie feedburner). Can this extension show me rss like “live bookmarks” does on firefox (you can see what I mean here: http://yfrog.com/3mrsslinkj )?
You should try to make it the same (or almost) as in Firefox where creating a new folder with RSS feeds is just as simple as one click. Good luck!
hey man .. i’m really confused ..i did as u said but coudn’t get it working… can u please post some screenshots so dat i can compare n see wat i did wrong?
or does it have anything to do with me being behind a proxy..note there are no restriction in browsing though
got it working.. didn’t knew that the bookmark name was case sensetive
a very nice extension… the lack of live bookmarks as availalble in firefox was the only thing preventing me n most of my friends from totally migrating to chrome.. u made it possible man.. i am amazed to see so less reviews..
i eagerly await any further updates..
can you include option to set maximum no. of entries for each feed separately (not all feeds update with same frequencies.. u know)
maybe u can add feed detection and option to directly subscribe to it as dynamic bookmark.. making it a single step process.. by just a click.
I get some weird javascript “NaN” things in my feed names:

@jazz7 — thanks for the review and added info… i really need to make another update… i just have gotten a little busy with school atm… I will be updating the extension and hopefully it will have the option to add feeds of different lengths. As for updating at different times… I know that I need to recode the extension to use a background page and maybe that could fix some issues that I have with it myself. I’m looking into making it easier (just copy the rss url and it will auto add everything). I’ll keep this site posted!
I added “rsslink” folder to the toolbar. What should I do next…?
sorry. I finally understood how to use. ‘rsslink’ was not the name of the folder, but the name of rssfeed bookmark.
@Everyone — Thanks for the helpful comments and all of the debugging that you guys have been doing. Please try this *new* version, as I am hoping that it will be much more user friendly and more powerful for most people’s needs. Let me know in the comments, thanks!
@macusernick.. did u not use your original .pem file ‘coz this intalls separately and doesn’t upgrade ur previous extension..pls use them as it will allow autoupgradation of extension..
Anywayz thnx for implementing my suggestions
@jazz7 – Yeah, I realized that this did use a different pem file, but from now on this will be the extension and the next little minor point release (probably 0.5.1) will have auto updating enabled. I needed to get a place to host the xml and crx files.
@macusernick.. thnx for quick reply.. i think you should consider adding xml parsing.. so that when one clicks on an rss feed it shows well parsed as in firefox..u can see example extension for rss by google… they have implemented the same…
@jazz7 – Do you mean to add the preview function within the popup?
no i wanted that u preview an rss link if i click on one.. for example go here http://www.formula1.com/services/feeds.html n click on any of the news feed link..do it in chrome and in firefox ..u will understand what i was talking about…
meanwhile i was also trying to develop my own version based on rss sample extension available on documentation site.. i’m trying to integrate all features..but i’m a total newbie..so will tell you if i reach something..
Also do post ur extension on google extension gallery..its open for developers now
@Everyone – Sorry I have been having problems with threads taking over and breaking the extension. Please download the newest update (also note that auto-update works now and hopefully I can push updates as time goes on)
Great RSS extension!
Please add support for importing OPML files.
gud ui changes..can u please fix this http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/5415/wrap1.png
currently the popup wraps after certain size..may be u can use rezisable popup as available in latest dev releases.
Hi,
I really like your extension but i’m still using version 0.2 because the version 0.5.6 dosen’t display if you already clicked on a feed. I don’t have a clue on how hard it could be to implement or if it is even possible to do, but I think this function is extremely important. When you are suscribed to a little more than 15 rss feeds, it is essential to be able to keep a track of what is read and what is not. That’s the only point annoying me and i’ll be really happy to use your new version if you add it someday.
Can you please tell me if you are planning to do so in the near future?
Thanks,
Patrick P. Henley
This is a fantastic start! Your extension (along with adblock plus) made me switch from Firefox. Well done.
I would echo other’s comments about making it behave like Firefox’s live bookmarks. Displaying the RSS feed icon in the address bar, right clicking to add to feeds, and having it appear in the bookmarks bar.
Another small thing I noticed is that if you have more than about 8 feeds it wraps funny. You have to scroll to see the remainder, with a few going onto the next line…
Thanks for your hard work!
When the link in the RSS feed contains commas ( , ) they are being ommited for some reason and the link doesn’t work. This is shown here:
http://img199.imageshack.us/img199/6381/address.png
Other than that, it’s great work, thanks!
@Everyone — Hey, I just want to let you all know I am still out here. I am a full-time student so that comes first, but I will be releasing another update within the weekend that should fix most of the bugs that you guys have found. Thank you all for the great feedback and that really helps me more then you all think! I’ll post on here again with specific bug fixes/changes when it is ready and hopefully auto-update will work for any of you that have 0.5.1 or above.
@Everyone — NOTE: For the 0.5.7 release I use a new pref scheme so any links you have will have to be re-added manually the first time. Fortunately I should not have to ever change the prefs again, so this should be the only time!
good job man i’m really impressed by your work so far. Keep up the good work! ; )
@Everyone — Finally, a build maybe worth using?! The prefs now take effect and all url issues should be fixed. Time to start adding some new features I have been thinking about!
@mastakilla — Thanks for the link, it really helped diagnose the problem!
@Patrick P. Henley — Thanks! I’m just learning as I go!
I also have a suggestion to make
After opening the rss feed, when clicking a link with ctrl down to open it in a separate tab, the feed should close each time but remain open.
@Patrick P. Henley — Links should now be more obvious when you click on the feed
@mastakilla — I would love to add that in, but I don’t think it is possible right now with Chrome
I just noticed that the prefs, and hence all the feeds are cleared each time I delete private data in Chrome..
is there any way to prevent this from happening?
@mastakilla — I’m not sure how the local storage options work, I’ll look into it and see what I can do.
@mastakilla — So far I have not been able to replicate your issue. I cleared the data in Chrome Prefs and it didn’t not remove my feeds. Let me know!
@mastakilla:
I also have same problem..
@macusernick:
Did you clear all browsing data? Check all option box..
Loving this extension, but…
Can visited/viewed feed links save their changed link color?
Right now, when I click a link, it goes from bold “link blue” to non-bold, thin-font black. It’s perfectly obvious that it’s a link I’ve visited.
Problem is, after the feed refreshes, that visited link returns to the original “link blue” font, leaving me to guess which links I’ve viewed.
Can this be fixed?
So good I stopped developing mine (RSS Live Feeds) – feel like I just wasted two days though (‘spose I did learn a lot about extension development etc). Oh well
Thanks
