i need help, my facebook notifications extension worked fine, then after faceboom changed it keeps on telling me that i am onstantly signed out even when im not, i have tried logging out and back in again but it doesnt change
can anyone help please

with the new update to the homepage this extension is no longer working , best chrome extension period!

I think I’ll just wait until Google rolls out their own extension-hosting site and grab your new version then and see if the problem persists. If not, then no need to bother at all.

Of general interest: I haven’t pushed out any updates to this extension since creating it, so anything that breaks is probably due to Facebook tweaking their site. I’ve created a new version of this extension, but I’m not planning on releasing it through chromeestensions.org — I’ll be hosting it in the official Chrome Extension Gallery for easier discovery and updating. I recommend that once the gallery opens (probably sometime mid-week), everyone uninstall this version of the extension and get the one from there, where I will continue development.

@Jeepers: Interesting, I haven’t run into that at all. Facebook may be in the middle of one of their redesigns which could easily play havoc with this extension. I haven’t run into this problem yet myself, but the rollouts of their new layouts often take a week or so, so perhaps it just hasn’t gotten around to my account yet. If you would be willing to open “http://www.facebook.com/notifications.php” and then go to page > save page as, then send me a copy of the source, I can check and see whether anything has been tweaked that would cause the extension to break. Hey Kyle,

Thanks for this extension ‘update’, it’s been a really good update to the original.

Couple of problems though. I don’t remember this happening until recently, but the pop-down menu now has a huge scroll bar for horizontal scrolling, most of which just shows white space. At the far right end, there is a search bar. Could this be moved to the bottom and the vertical scroll bar gotten rid of or just removed altogether?

Also, the ‘home’ and ‘profile’ blue menu bar is really big and ugly and it is showing a repeated notification with a date underneath. Not sure why. All in all, there is more there now then there is in the normal notification menu on Facebook itself. Can it be stripped back down?

I have some suggestions, I don’t know if they’re possible to do, but I can try =P

First, when you’re not logged on Facebook, the notifier shows you a “X”… but when you click on the icon, just shows you a blank list. Maybe shows the login fields, or just send you to the Facebook login page.

When you have several notifications and you click on one of them, the notifications list is closed. Can you make that the new opened tab goes on background tab and the notifications list doesn’t get closed?

And finally, an option to block the apps notifications, or something like that. I have no idea if that’s possible so is just a crazy idea for you.

I hope some of this suggestions could help, I really like this extension… make my cyber-social life easier xD

Clicking the notification causes a new tab to open, even if i have a facebook tab open already. I’m a fan of pining a facebook, so it’d be nice if clicking the notification would just give that focus and open it if it’s not already.

The popup window needs to stay open, allowing you to middle click on several entries before moving on

seems that this is pulling to often… i get logged out every hour when i enable this.. would be great if you can set the polling interval in the options
