More about this extension

Real context menu will be open on right click with Alt or Ctrl button pressed.

This extension was modeled after RightLinks Firefox extension.

PLEASE NOTE: RightLink, like other extensions with content scripts, is disabled on the Chrome Extensions gallery (https://chrome.google.com/extensions) for security reasons. So RightLink will not be working on this site.

Change Log:

! Bind right click event handler only once for page (i.e. Document object). This fix prevents creation of several identical background tabs after right clicking on any link at http://eBay.com.

very useful on my touchscreen laptop 🙂

  2. Graeme says:

Alt-right-click doesn’t work properly. Also, this extension doesn’t work very well in Google Reader.

  3. Graeme says:

    Btw, I’m using Chrome 4.0.223.11

  4. Leonid.Borisenko says:

Graeme: thanks for reporting bug with handling links in Google Reader. Now RightLink (v1.1) should work with Reader’s links.

As for Alt-right-click problem: I cannot reproduce any faults with this combination. At my machine RightLink+Alt-right-click shows same Chrome context menu as RightLink+Ctrl-right-click. I assume that Alt-right-click is special combination that intercepted by your window manager. For example, Metacity window manager (which used in Gnome) shows it’s window menu on Alt-right-click (and also on Alt-Space).

is there a way to add rightclick to the Omnibox to open links in new tabs?

  6. Leonid.Borisenko says:

brian: No; at this moment Chrome extension hasn’t access to Omnibox

  7. Sno says:

This Extension seems to block being able to click “Share” for status’s on facebook, works when disabled and refreshed.

  8. Leonid.Borisenko says:

Sno: Facebook works inproperly with enabled RightLink because of WebKit (browser engine) bug. This bug was already fixed in WebKit at 27.10.2009. So RightLink 1.1 will stop blocking Facebook’s “Share” button in future, when Google releases Chrome with newer version of WebKit.

I’ll made (by tomorrow) temporary version of RightLink, which avoids this bug and works with Facebook in current version of Chrome.

    For technical details see: http://code.google.com/p/rightlink/issues/detail?id=1

  9. Leonid.Borisenko says:

Ok, i upload v1.1.1 which should avoid bug in Chrome and doesn’t blocks Facebook interface elements.

  10. brian says:

1.1.1 doesn’t seem to work for me on https://chrome.google.com/extensions/

  11. Leonid.Borisenko says:

brian: RightLink, as any other Chrome extension, doesn’t work on site chrome.google.com. It’s not the extension bug, it’s Chrome security policy feature. See http://code.google.com/p/rightlink/issues/detail?id=2
