This is my personal favorite extension. I personally suggest anyone who wants a cool effect to use it.
- Plus: The scroll effect makes Chrome feel amazing.
- Minus: Sometimes doesn’t load up as fast as the page (Scrolls normally for a second or two) if the website is complex.
A needed extension:D
My favorite so far.
Does what it should.
I love it!
I’ve always wanted google chrome to have this.
I really like the Smoothscroll experience. Something I noticed though: When I open my long list of bookmarks and try to scroll through those, it will close the bookmarks and scroll the available website instead. I’d like it to scroll whatever menu, frame, or site that my mouse is hovered over. Any way to correct this in the next release? I’m looking forward to it. Keep up the good work!
this is great…. im really switching from ff to chrome
Awesome!
Love it!!!
Actually can’t stand it. On a mac, used to two-finger scrolling if that makes a difference, but this made pages painful to try and scroll.
@Steve
Scrolling in Chrome on a Mac is smooth by default. You don’t need this extension if you
have a Mac. If you use Smoothscroll on a Mac it will start scrolling VERY fast.
Smoothscroll is an extension for PC (and linux I think) only.
I can attest that this works in linux. ^^
And thank you for this extension it makes chrome feel a lot better whenever I’m on webpages.
Little extension but great effect ^^
thanks a lot
Works as promised. Excellent work
I’ve never seen a extension quite like this but I like it.
If I scroll my mouse wheel, the vertical scrollbar goes down, then it comes up back – rendering scrolling wheel useless. I tried changing numbers on the option page however none of them helped. Nice addon, just not working for me
The keyboard support seems to work fine, except for one thing…
When you’re writing on a form (like the comment box I’m writing into now) and try to change rows by pressing up or down, Smootscroll kicks in.
I guess that’s one of the reasons it experimental.
Just a quick question. Why do you need access to my personal data and my web history? Isn’t the point of this extension to provide smooth scrolling? And why does “smooth scrolling” need to look at my personal information/passwords/web history?
Sorry, I can’t use this extension before this is resolved.
Nice extension.. thanks!
I updated Linux Chromium today (4.0.252.0 (Ubuntu build 32323)), and this extension got disabled. When I try to install it again, Chromium asks me for permission, and when I click con “Continue”, there is an error message saying “Content scripts can not be executed on file:// urls.”.
It seems there are new restrictions to extensions in Chromium. Could you fix this?
Thanks!
Same error as Marcelo Fernandez “Content scripts can not be executed on file:// urls.” Could you fix this? Please thanks!
I need the functionality of this extension — Chrome just jumps too much with the scrollwheel on my mouse — but at the same time it breaks too much of basic Chrome movement, ie. the Shift-scroll to do horizontal scrolling, and often in Gmail trying to use the arrow keys to navigate in the text box will instead cause the page to scroll around. If you can find a way to even optionally disable the keyboard scrolling (I have tried it with the keyboard functions turned off and I still have problems) I’d love to continue using this ext. but for now I can’t recommend it to anyone.
@ TK
All Chrome plugins “need access” to your personal data, even if they really don’t. This is just a default dialog in Chrome, because plugins CAN access your personal data. Chrome can’t tell whether they do or not, so the user is asked.
I cant’s see any diference with default configuration. I use SmoothScroll – Version: 0.5 and latest version of Chrome 4.0.249.11….
how to configure to see the effect of this extension?
Thank’s
thank you! thank you! thank you! this is amazing!
tnx addon amazing make the chrome more simple and homeless xD
Interesting extension, maybe will be fine add an animation for Home and End keys, like picasa 3. I think.
I don’t seem to see any difference with/without this extension. I am on chrome linux. Is that the problem? Is this meant only for windows?
My bad, now I see how this works. It does work on linux too. I am starting to like this. Thanks
Please add an option to remove the button!

This is not very comforting at all, and it does seem like the warning message is different depending on which extension is being installed. For example, Session Manager just says it needs to access my browsing history, which is perfectly reasonable for the purposes of that extension.
I find it hard to believe that the DEFAULT warning says that PRIVATE DATA is accessed, which should raise red flags in any sane person using the web. Seems pretty ridiculous to me, but if it is a problem within Chrome’s implementation of extensions, someone should report it and add more options to the messages, perhaps things that are more accurately indicating what sort of access the extension needs. Android apps do very well with this; I don’t see why Chrome isn’t equipped with similar ways of determining what to warn the user about.
not working with apple touchpad.. :/

And i am verry happy with it with my HP Laptop’s Touchpad.
Before I download this extension, I’m going to need Chrome to stop breaking the scrolling function on my Touchpad…
