Thanks and this is my first extension installed to chrome. Now im enjoying chrome more than I do with firefox
Thank you very much for this! I am using this with Chromium and it is just OK!
I have been looking for such a plugin forever. The only strange thing I have – the adblocker button in panel has no icon, looks like an empty button – not neat. But it is about nothing, the real deal is that it actually works (Using traditional morpeh list currently).
With this on par with flashblock extension Chromium becomes my only choice.
Great extension but why i can see any icon?
Where do I find the config file for the custom ads I’ve blocked? I mean, when I hit alt+b and select some part of the page, so It’ll be blocked, how can I find those configs to port ir somewhere else, like my netbook for example.
Worked great. For people who don’t know how to use this:
1. Click the empty area left of the page button (it reveals a secret button! jk)
2. click Preferences
3. Select “EasyList (USA):” (or wherever you live near)
4. check “convert and use blocking rules” (IMPORTANT!!)
5. In the ‘Global filters’ groupbox, click Save
6. Scroll down and click “Close”
7. BAM!! Ad’s are disabled based upon EasyList (USA)!!
good luck!!
how to get rid of AdBlock button on toolbar (hotkeys are enough for me)
You have to update to see the icon
Works in Mac Chrome 4.0.249.12 (OS X 10.6.2). Many thanks!
Cheers for this extension mate! Any browser without adblock is no browser
@William Nevermind, it appeared on its own eventually.
AWESOME!
I love google ))
works in linux )))
ubuntu 9.10 64bit
Running 4.0.249.11 on windows 7. Extension appears to install, am able to select easy list subscription. Nothing gets blocked.
The extension causes a problem on http://www.heise.de because some ad that is meant to be displayed on the right of the page is now displayed on top of the content. I had filed this as a chrome bug here:
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=29176
Please see if you can fix it…
Does not work for Chromium on Ubuntu, Version is 4.0.261.0 (Ubuntu build 33442)
is anyone having issues updating the USA easylist.txt? or any other list?
I just cannot use the hotkeys like “Alt+B”, a click on the icon is working.
Version:1.1.9.10(auto updated)
Chrome: 4.0.249.11
Come on, no one have my answer?
I ran into a strange issue with this. There’s certain ads with audio, particularly on deviantART, that are visibly blocked but apparently still active. This hides the ads but the flash element is still there and I can hear it. :/
i love this and it works but it makes takes forever for pages to start loading… 10 seconds extra wait for any/every page to load isn’t worth it.
In my comment above, the key I was talking about was ENTER, but I wrote ENTER between those characters that are used to create HTML tags (I dont know the name : ) ), and they disapeared. So, while reading that, on the 1st, 9th and 11th line, read ENTER where it’s necessary.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Hi it appears to stop working with the latest version of chrome: 4.0.249.25
Not blocking ads for me. I installed it and it see the button for it at the top of Chrome (4.0.249.25 for Windows — running Windows 7). I subscribed to the USA list and just to make sure everything was good I closed Chrome and re-opened it. Nothing is being blocked. Am I missing something?
Works in Fedora 12,chromium 4.0.253.0.And there is no icon on it.
Why?
Please make it so the icon can disappear. I don’t need a faceless icon crowding that invaluable space.
man, since i use FF i cant use the internet without tis addon *-*…
i didnt use chrome only because tis addon, but nowwwwww i love it xD
tnx man really really perfect work *-*
On the last chromium review 4.0.265.0 (Ubuntu build 33925) , the update extensions does’ant work
Hi, using Chromium 4.0.260.0 (33405) and while the button icon doesn’t show up I can access the menu. I’ve added the rules, but they don’t remove anything. Alt + B and Alt + W don’t work either.
dude the icon of AdBlock+ is invisibile why? look: http://i45.tinypic.com/14cd17p.jpg Can you fix that?
It would be nice if you could edit the options through the “options” panel under extensions.
Also, is there a way to turn off the button? It seems a little unnecessary.

Thanks a lot man.
If not for this post I would have uninstalled this extension since the options button in the extension panel is grayed out.
YOU NEED TO FIX THIS EXTENSIONS IT DON’T WORK. WHEN YOU CLEAR YOUR BROWSER HISTORY IT IT CLEARS THE SETTINGS AND YOU SUBSCRIPTION TO. YOU HAVE TO SET IT UP AGAIN. THEN IT STILL DON’T WORK.
Google patched this for the newest google chrome developer build, not working anymore
In the newer version of chrome the only way I was able to find a way to get this working was to press ALT+B and then clicking on the things I wanted to hide on a given site. This doesn’t work too well for page like Youtube who have dozens of ads placed in useful places, but it’s better than nothing.
Lol These retards don’t even know how to make extensions properly. Chrome will never be as good as Firefox, just deal with it.
when ever I block something it also follows the link how do I stop this.
This is hot. HOT.
Just another trash extension now. *sigh*
Just for those experiencing issues:
Open the preferences
Select the blank text box radio button
Paste the following URL: http://adblockplus.mozdev.org/easylist/easylist.txt
Make sure “convert and use blocking rules” is ticked and hit “Subscribe”
This SHOULD populate global filters and if you close down chrome and reopen it then most ads should be gone
Other than the annoying subscription problems it works fine once it’s configured.
This is pretty damn broken.
Adding blocking rules doesn’t really work. It will just block certain elements but there is no easy way to add new regexes, as in the REAL adblock plus.
For me, entering something like http://adprovider.com/* causes the entire page to disappear.
Stick with Firefox until this is usable.
Cannot work on Linux?
it is nice, but where is the iconïŒ
Works great for me, using Chromium on Linux, current version is AdBlock+ – 1.1.9.10
I just wanted to ask if this extension is on the official Google Extensions site (https://chrome.google.com/extensions/).
Doesn’t work at all? Get the error message:
Invalid value for ‘permissions[0]‘.
Which makes no sense, since this is my person computer and I’m the sole user/administrator on it.
@JesusSuperstar
No
subscription doesn’t work
repaging doesn’t work
adblocking hardly works
@Lex1 then put it to https://chrome.google.com/extensions/
this one is much better than other ad blockers for Google Chrome!
Certainly much better than any other ad block extension I’ve seen for Chrome.
I’ve been using it since I first installed chromium. Add it please
nice job!
@Ressah
Thanks worked just like you said. Although i dislike how there is an empty space where some ads were before but better than nothing.
