Developer Builds (Linux)
Displays number of unread Waves in Google Wave.
Lots of changes. The extension now allows you to :
- See unread waves without opening Wave in a popup. - Access to a specific wave directly from the popup of the extension. - Choose icons you want to see from different sets of icons. - Specify your preferred refresh rate. - Specify your Google Apps domain if you're using Wave with Google Apps. - Open Google Wave with navigation, contacts and search box hidden if you want.

Remove badge displaying "0" when you have zero waves.
Cool extension, waiting for an update for it to appear as a browser action at the top of the window though.
Have you got auto-updates set up?
Yes auto-update is configured and I’m already working on the new version with browser action. I will push the update as soon as possible!
Thank you! for ur post
Recently i visit a nice article ablout google wave here: http://freshnewz.co.cc/
nice !
ppaul:at:goup:dot:me thx)
(but ave you got invitation for me
The update is now live. Next step will be to add an option page to allow users to change the refresh rate and to be able to work with Google Apps account. If you have any suggestions, feel free!
Hey, thanks for the quick update to fix the “0 unread messages” bug. I’d like to report another now: for some reason, it doesn’t keep me signed into Wave. I frequently have to go into my Extensions options and reload the Wave extension in order to log back in. Anyone else experiencing this issue?
I’d LOVE to be able to use this extension! But I just cannot seem to find an invite for wave. Isn’t that great?
Sounds cool!
and if you have an invite and want to pass it along
Rulethesky (you know what goes here, the little @ sign) gmail.com
Nice extension. works great.
Can you make another one like this (a little button sitting up there) for Google Calendar that shows you how many events you have today, and maybe even shows a preview like Gmail Checker made by destructoBOT?
I’ll be grateful!
Thanks,
Yair.
It is just displaying a grey ?
I am signed into google wave
Great, clean extension. I’d love an Options screen where I could set this to be used with my Google Apps wave account instead of my personal wave account.
Same boat as Tavin. I’m interested in testing Chrome extensions, only realised that they were enabled by default today. Great to get some of my favourites back I’ve been missing from Firefox. If you have an invite hanging around, please: mikaelt8{@}gmail{dot}com Thanks.
If you want to change check delay, modify in file
background.html: var pollInterval = (1000 * 60) * 30; // 30 minutes
to anything you want and reload the extension
Agreed with everyone above! Wish I could try it out and let you know, once I get on Wave…I signed up for the beta probably 10 minutes after Wave was announced and I didn’t get one, sad times! Oh well, but if someone’s feeling like a good Samaritan… patjanks at gmail dot com. I’ll get right on letting you know how this extension works
Nice extension.
It seems to be quite slow in checking for messages, takes a long time to clear once I have read my messages. The Gmail extension is very, within seconds of any changes.
The greyed out icon is kind of ugly, I would like to see it like the Facebook and Gmail extensions, full color all the time with just the number of unread as the indicator.
Its kind of slow to check the waves. It usually takes like 4 mins (or more) for it to noticed that I already read the wave.
@Graeme: I’ve had the same issues, including when it was a toolstrip…
I’m looking for an invitation for Google Wave! Is here anybody that can invite me? Please!!!

That 30 minute refresh frequency reduces the usefulness of the extension. Sounds like there’s not much you can do about that, but still a shame
Working very well so far.
For those wanting it to check at a faster rate, you can edit the background.html file in the extension’s directory.
Line 12:
var pollInterval = (1000 * 60) * 30
30 minute check timer in the installed version I have. Edit the line to what frequency you want. It is a milliseconds value so 1000 == 1 second:
var pollInterval = (1000 * seconds)
1000 * 60 // Once a minute
1000 * 30 // Twice a second
1000 * 60 * 10 // Once every ten minutes
Thank you Jeremy Selier.
Great idea for an extension, I’m going to try it now.
Thanks,
please set polling by default to at least 3 min otherwise this is fully useless
@Yoyodyne: How do you edit background.html? I opened it in Chrome’s Developer Tools, but it looks to be read-only there. How’d you do it?
Oh, never mind, I found the .html file on my hard drive and opened up a text editor to edit line 12.
Cool, glad you got it working.
why can’t i open the extention?
I’ve created a small patch with Chromified icons for this extension. Unzip it into the GWave Checker extension folder and it should work. Rename the icon folders or change line 14 in background.html if you want to swap icon sets.
Nice destructoBOT, can I integrate them into my extension ? I will make a setting to let people chose which one they want if you’re ok with that.
Also, your extension should have been updated to 2.0. You can now chose the refresh rate and set up the extension to use your google apps for wave account.
Yes, you can use them as you wish.
hi.

great job man
but from here i could not instal the 2.0 version, but i found it here
http://www.jeremyselier.com/entry/chrome-extension-google-wave-checker
from this link it works.
oops, too early posted.
q1: what is this domain all about? i dont get it, im new to both chrome and wave
q2: is there chance for refresh rate less than 5min? my rss and gmail readers updates almost instant (1.5sec?) and wave 5min. There is huge difference. Why? Is that because wave is more complicated, cost much data, or sth?
btw, if someone needs invition for google wave just write me an e-mail with subject “Google Wave Invite”
den.south_gmail.com
replace _ with @
Why is the minimum refresh time 5 min? That’s better but still kind of long.
Because Google Wave is currently in preview alpha and Google asks me to set to 5 minutes minimum to not overload their servers, I accepted.
there is a slight problem with this anyway goog extensions – when you click on it, it opens Wave. When you then open in this ‘Wave’ tab some new site, then go usrfing and clicked later button again, it redirects you to the page where Wave was initially opened, even if there is this new site.
Gmail and Greader notifier dont have this problem, though – so i think it is possible to fix it
Hey, I’m trying to install the wave checker but I get an error saying that the crx file con not be read. Any ideas?
Will not install on my google crome toolbar. Is there an auto update for the google crome application???
Would it be possible to have this use the same Comet, or whatever other notification the Wave page itself uses?
Well, of course, unless that’s going to put even _more_ stress on the servers…
When I try to install the file a dialog box shows and this is whats written:
Extension Install Error
Invalid Value for ‘permisions[0]‘.
How can i fix it??
Thanks in advance James
Same here…
Invalid Value for permission[0]
@James
To install the extensions you need the Developers Version of Chrome available here http://www.google.com/chrome/eula.html?extra=devchannel
Once it is installed just quit out of chrome and open it again, then it should work.
I had that same issue and after installing the Developers version it works fine.
I wish the Chrome for Mac beta allowed extensions! This would be totally deadly.
Great Extension. Could you possibly increase the refresh rate so that it refreshes faster than once every 5 mins. Thanks
Love having this … 5 stars!
Is there any chance (Mac) to either display a badge on the Chrome dock icon, or send a notification to Growl for better visibility?
